So PH, what do we think of the incoming 4wd F-Type? Is AWD a bit of an oddity in something as savagely lusty as the F-Type? Is this kind of varied dynamic palette what helps define a car company/product as premium?

Is 'premium' a more badge defined desciptor?

Have a read of my thoughts on the Jag here:

and my GOMW article on the premium question here:

Many thanks for any comments you might have smile

My initial thought is grey text on a grey background is very difficult to read, so I didn't. Sorry. As for a 4x4 F-Type it seems like a logical choice for someone who wants to use one as an all year round vehicle. Even in fine conditions not every driver will want to smoke the tyres but still want to drive fast.

I would imagine there's also a large number of Jaguar customers/potential customer who are getting on in years but maybe still fancy a sporty Jag....all the power sliding tail out action that the F-type is now synonymous with might be a bit off putting to someone pushing seventy with a bum ticker.

Nope. Lacks some punch/finnesse that the turbo has. 0-62 big difference, some seen 2.7/2.8 - 62 and the jag with 4wd I think is going to be 4- 62 big difference. (thats just a small part of the figures)
Also think those cars are aimed at different people!

The Jag will do it under 4 seconds. It will lack the focus of the 911 though, and be even heavier.

Just looked, Jag Quoting 3.9 - 62 for the v8r automatic awd.
Turbo has been developed over number of years so they have the upper hand over a new product.
Jag the better looking car though. Doubt it would pull porsche turbo customers away though (no rear seats will have some effect, and brand loyalty)

But the song 'if you want to have sex buy a jag, because there is room in the back for a shag' can't be applied to the F Type!!

Problem with a Porsche is the people who drive them wink

That's the problem with all cars.
