Cyclist allowed to jump red lights
Discussion
surprised not to see anything on this on PH.
probably quite sensible. Just enforce the lights where they're not allowed to jump

This should be brought in over here, not least of which because cyclists tend to do it anyway irrespective. I was in London yesterday and witnessed countless examples where cyclists were turning left on a red and weaving between the pedestrians that were crossing.
I guess they felt this was safer than waiting for the next lorry or bus to crush them as they turned left

Imagine the carnage if drivers in Britain were allowed to filter and turn on a red light. Most drivers have only just grasped Give Way, so to expect them to be able to safely navigate in front of traffic which is already in the junction with a right of way..... It'll catch in as well as ' please use the entire lane right up to the cones before filtering in' and the other classic, ' I don't know so I'll do 40 just to be safe'.

Yeah, almost makes me want some cyclists to get crushed! I guess they felt this was safer than waiting for the next lorry or bus to crush them as they turned left

They make out they are the most vulnerable road users ever but don't give a t*ss for pedestrians (or anyone else for that matter) - W*****s!
Reminds me of an incident about 5 years ago. Standing outside a pub having a beer with colleagues after work and a cyclist pulls up to a red light at a cross roads in central London. He has a sneaky peak left and right and looks forward again. Off he pootles right through said red light.
Only he should have looked behind him as there were 3 police motorbikes sitting about 5ft behind, who then lit up and pulled him over straight away. He just hung his head in shame boxed off by them.

I saw a similar thing a while ago but even more careless. I was cycling along Bishopsgate early on a Saturday morning with a cyclist about 20 yards in front of me.
We come up to the red light at a pedestrian crossing, with a police van in front of us. She just sails through to be greeted with the blue lights.
I was half tempted to stop and congratulate him.

Spot on! They say they are the most vulnerable, yet you see a lot of them behaving like they are invicible and own the road. They make out they are the most vulnerable road users ever but don't give a t*ss for pedestrians (or anyone else for that matter) - W*****s!
