more to this than meets the eye I think myself, "It’s clear the scheme isn’t doing its job and it is hitting honest motorists in the wallet. The VIC scheme is nothing more than unnecessary red tape, which is why we are getting rid of it."
since when has the government got rid of anything that involves red tape and they make money out of it?
the Vic test never checked the condition of any repairs just the identity of the car being presented for a new log book{v5}.
does help with the cost of repairing as you save the £41 fee and don't need to transport that car to your nearest vosa center.
can't see how this helps the average motorist though, how many cat c/d cars does the average motorist buy/repair?
does this make their salvage cars more valuable for insurance companies to sell?

don;t think cat D ever needed it - as cat d is costs more to repair using new parts and main dealer / swanky bodyshop labour costs

Maybe it's because they are closing all the Vosa test centers

I've repaired two cat c's this year and the vic test was a big hassle booking it in for 4 weeks time taking time to drive there the cars were both mots before I went so if there was a query with the vin then it would of been flagged up already as all mot testers are supposed to use the body not a plate for the chassis numbers I think and it's £41 for nothing
