Well no, that's not a fine/endorsement/penalty is it?
Neither is an SAC. It's supposed to be an alternative to a fine/endorsement/penalty.
Nick will be along in a minute to tell you all how stupid you are and how simple it all is.

You may be asked "Have you attended any driver speed awareness courses" where as you are very unlikely to be asked "have you been given an at the road talking to by a member of her majesties police service".

I mentioned a speed awareness course when renewing a policy and they were not even faintly interested.

If you don't inform them it's an opportunity to not pay.
I had to call them to tell them my car was no longer garaged, they again weren't bothered. Their interest only comes into play once my car is stolen off my drive.

Not if they didn't ask, it isn't.

This is exactly it, the proposal asks for convictions and endorsements.
It doesn't ask for speed awareness courses.
If it was important, they would ask.
It's like declaring you have HIV when they aren't asking....

I have recently renewed with Admiral who asked about speed awareness courses and I told them I had attended one and it didn't make any difference to my premium .......

Wonder why they ask then? Just being chatty?

Stats for future use would be my guess: tracking whether driver behaviour improves compared to those who haven't done a course.

As mentioned, more than likely for data capture to review claims performance for drivers who have attended a course.

They may decide in the future that drivers who take the course propose no change in risk, so no pricing impact. Or if they're performing poorly, will lead to a risk increase and premiums increasing on the back of it.
