Good question jpf, and yes, if the Panoz and Invicta were the same price, it'll be an interesting pick and I am sure both cars will be equally as pleasing to own.
Since I can buy a Panoz in Canada, while not the Invicta, it makes the choice a bit more easy.
And one more thing, while I don't think the Invicta is a bad looking car, the side profile just doesn't do it for me at all, huge doors and tiny windows, it looks like a HotWheels racer that a fat kid stepped on. The Panoz is by no means a perfect beauty, but atleast it looks better proportioned.

There is only one car worth £100K with a Ford engine in it and this aint' it.
If they are hiking up the price because they are selling on brand name you would have thought they could have done better than Ford.
If they were selling it with the new M5 engine then it might have some credibility.

Just my humble opinion.

Interesting set of comments. Is Ultimasimon about to buy one? Great minds and all that...
I tested the early car which was also tested by Evo magazine. They mentioned the brakes as being a bit too sharp. What an understatement, I was convinced I would have another car in the boot before the test was concluded. They were violently sharp. So I tested the current incarnation of the car a month or so ago, after Grahams test in fact which is a huge improvement.
This car looks MUCH better in the flesh and the photos dont do it justice. It is very imposing, but of course you only have to listen to that engine to know this is a serious piece of kit. As others have suggested, the 320 is fast enough but is a bit tame compared to some and there was no 420 to test. So as a special treat they let me loose in the 600. What a car!! There is audible supercharger whine but the V8 noise is pure can am. And yes, it is fast enough for me thank you. Fabulous beast with so much more animal agression than most supercars at any price. However as some have said, as a fledgling company with a question mark over residuals, they are probably aiming at the wrong (bespoke) market with 320 bhp at those prices. The interior needs to be improved for this market but the engineering is real artwork reminiscent of a new racecar. I spent a good hour dribbling over the mechanicals so if there is any rust they know who to blame. Worth a look if you have the dough and residuals are immaterial. Best of luck to them.

the most gorgeous cars in the world look awful in black as soon as it is anything other than perfectly clean. Not so much ugly as much as you think, "god, I wish it had been silver or metallic something..." Well, this car needs to be black. It is seriously hideous. I really don't even think there are that many ugly cars anymore, but this is just AWFUL. I'm always amazed that every high-dollar car without a recent design heritage or lineup to fit into doesn't look like a Farboud GTS or cunningham c7 of josse indigo 3000 or jaguar concept R coupe or volkswagen concept R roadster.... I mean, there are so many disparate ways to make a unique shape that absolutely knocks you over. (for the jag and vw, take away the silly grilles tying them to the stype and golf/passat/jetta, and the strong shapes still remain. And sometimes, stunning doesn't necessarily have to mean pretty! the zonda certainly isn't feline, but damn if you could call it derivative of anything. And you also would do well to notice it doesn't look like it's melting either. Really, who thought of this? ding the fender, toss the car? duh. And there was nothing inspired about picking the ford v8. Its cheap, it makes nice noises. Fine for a mustang, even the overwrought SV, but what the hell does invicta have to do with ford? and what in the world does this shape pay homage to? It ought to be something if it isn't going to at least be drop dead gorgeous. For this to exist and the 8 competizione to not is a crime against automotive enthusiasts everywhere. May Chris Marsh get rich selling GTS's to every micromanufactureanglophile who knows well enough to jump the waiting list and get a piece of that stunner.

Have they sold any then?

For me the interior on the cars I've seen (2002 motor show / LE mans 2005) was bloody awful and I would feel embarrassed to find that inside a 20k lexus - let alone in a 100k+ car. Can't really tell from this but hope they sorted that out..

The technology is cool - and making a car that large weigh only 1100kg (the same as my ally chassis / ally bodied / wooden framed Morgan Aero) is a feat of engineering genius - shame they didn't pay gandini / bertone or someone to style it as it is ugly in the extreme - it just looks so passe - like a pastiche of the last V8 aston. Which incidently is available second hand almost new for <150k - and will retain it's value for many years to come - unlike this which is an unknown quantity. Shame - but I think they have their work cut out...

SOmething about this car is special. Ive always liked it. The bodywork isnt spectacular, its a bit fussy and lsoppy, the interior no less so. It has a decent engine and performs reasonably well Im sure, but theres just osmething...unique...about it that really attracts me to it. a dark blue one would be my choice. Now to escape college and make osme decent money....

This car has that something that most cars - even in the higher price range - don't have. A character of its own, charisma even . . . it has that Walter d'Silva kind of meanness without being mean, it has a Merc kind of chique without being distant or introvert . . . Well, I know the Invicta-likers club is a small one but I really hope they sells enough to make this a slight succes.

Ha, just had a little "race" with one of these outside Maidenhead on my Kawasaki ZX7R, and although I'm sure the Invicta S1 would have outgunned me on top speed, on acceleration it was a pretty even match! But the sound of it! Fantastic! It drowned out my race can it was so loud! When this guy floored it the thing squatted down, a burst of smoke came out the exhaust and it moved! Great fun to follow and whoever it was was no boy racer. Thanks for the run.

Came across one of these a few weeks back whilst on my home turf... loved them since hearing one burble through the tunnel at Le Mans. Put the below up just in the vain hope that the owner/driver was on PH but no luck frown

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Swap my Cerb for one..... hmmm would be very tempted if I had the cash, of course would be better to keep the Cerb and have them as pair biggrin

A mate of mine got to drive one through just happening to be at a garage (near castle coombe)at the right time and talking to the owner (company owner?), said it was awesome and quick but easy to drive!
he said in the flesh they look even better too.

Saw one of these today and although it was different from the usual stuff you see, it certainly didn't look £100+k worth. In fact, it looked like it would be more at home next to a TVR Cerbera than an Aston (although I'm sure the Cerbera would out perform it).
