Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh sad sad news...the prototype of the Wiesmann GT V10 crashed ...
I just found out that a secret prototype has crashed so could aspect a delay...you can see the lovely V10 aaaaaaaaaaahhh DTM-racer Jörg van Ommen was behind the wheel and ad a speed of more then 200km/h he lost control?? and crashed on a lorrytruck and then in the barriers that stupid driver aaaaaaaahhh what a waste...the car was over 180.000euro's worth...

GTRene

add some good news it will be made according to somebody else, read his story;
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I talked to a Wiesmann sales representative two weeks ago about the Wiesmann GT V 10. He said, the car will be launched in the near future (no exact date mentioned). He also said the price level will climb to a level so far unknown to Wiesmann The sales representative claimed to have done testrides himself with the prototype at the Solitude track near Stuttgart. According to him the BMW V 10 sounds like a F1 in the Wiesmann He also claimed that a SLR being tested at the same time at the same track wasn't able to pull away from the Wiesmann

Though being a small manufacturer only (approximately 600 cars built since the company's start 13 years ago), they have a quite good reputation regarding the cars built quality (certainly backed by the BMW engine, drivetrain, gearbox etc.) and they seem to hold their value very very well (no comparison to today's Porsches ) because there's obviously more demand than production capacities.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that sounds good to meyes yummie

What a mess! But the passenger cell looks largely undamaged, so it speaks well for the safety.

Yes, the new Aluminum chassis is good lucky for thatyes hope they have info anough to go on scadule with the program and launch the Wiesmann GT V10 in summer 2007 as planed...

Some people say the wiesmann has some Jaguar or TVR or Austin Healy looks, but in fact its something older then that, it share some looks of the very beautifull
Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic sc from 1936, and I made a compilation of it and put some pictures together to see the looks of both

I realy love the Wiesmannhehe but I think most of you will know by know I hope some of you will also be there in 2007 at their next Open day at the factory in Dülmen Germany, I bet there is a nice demo with M5 to see, last year their was a older prototype of the GT with M5 V8 alway nice such day at Dülmen and many nice cars to seeyes

I would desperately love one of these, but I can't see even the V8 versions ever being within my reach.

Well, you already did, kind'a...
Still have to contact the Wiesmann company if a 'private' visit is possible. Otherwise that open day is a good alternative.
GTRene, what date is that?

They haven't got a new date yet I believe, but as soon as I know I will post it here
By the way, privat visits are also aloud and welcomed, when I visit them in august 2005 to see if they had the new GT outside the factory I came there and saw some cars standing outside and they have a showroom too so we(also a cargirlfriend) walked there and someone came outside if they could help us with something? well I said we just wanted to see the new car, ow he said would you like to see how we build them? me saying ow, we don't want to disturb..oh they said no problem and showed us all around the factory a almost 2 hour touryes he also offered me a great deal on such car(but I'm not that rich sadly) they realy nice(ofcorse when your nice too I guess)
cheers

That's good news, and confirms what I've heard from one of my mates who drove to Wiesmann with his ol' 930.
They were even offered a testdrive! driving

We're thinking about going there with a small group, end of march or so...
So if you're interested, please register on my site, and I'll keep you informed.

yep, I was offered a testride too...but I was to stupid to say yes because I thought I can't pay one and they where so nice and I would not take to much time from them...
I think the openday will also be in March...I looked in my agenda and the 2006 open day was on 25 and 26 of March, so I guess the next 2007 openday will be end March or begin April...
The Event agenda from Wiesmann will be renewed begin 2007 and I think they plan 2 days for the openday again, its always in a weekend
So what to do best? I will go to the Openday but also glad to add another extra day with a small group and Dink making a little write up and making some nice pictures...count me in!
We can open a thread in the "netherlands" I can do that if you like, but better wait with that after my birthday (12 januar) by then they have more info about Wiesmann Events and events we can plan(all carnuts invited ofcorse)

I will, but not before I got some prices and more details...
It has to be good, so I'd like to prepair things.
It also has to be in the spirit of Klassiekerrally: a lot of bang for the buck.
And that's the challenge!

I have a feeling my '07 write-ups are going to be a bit different . . . .

Not just cars to review, but factory-visits, events and such. Nice.

We need a test-drive yes
