i dont understand why they have brought this one out now. they should have brought it out along with the sporting diesel, you might as well wait now for the abrth versions.

My first post so hello all. wavey

Isn't this about the same performance wise that the orgional Puto GT from the early 90s? That also had a 1.4 turbo, with about 135 brake (IIRC). It would almost certainly be lot lighter and if I remember correctly did just over 120 and had a 0-60 of about 8.5 seconds. Dunno if it did 42.8mpg and was probably a lot less well built though!

Wasn't there a horrid Fiat Punto in the mid 90's that did 0-60 in under 8 seconds? Surely that's the hottest Punto ever, if such a thing is possible?
Yeah - Punto GT. It had a 1.4 Turbo motor and kicked out about 130bhp iirc.

Hmmm I agree with most people this is a good looking car, but it seems to me like a late effort to follow up on Vauxhall's VXR selection. It's for that reason I wouldn't buy one of these. I'd rather save up a bit more and go for a VXR.

yeah but its a fiat. its like theres a buzz in the morning of the joy's of starting yeah i had the squeaky brakes pull ya wheels off and a spot of copper grease happy days!!!! fiat make you so happy when there working plus it handles good the abarth will be a reet pocket rocket at 185bhp but my personal favourite thing is doing island in the wet water does not effect its handling just in floor it.

Now all we need is that 180bhp motor in the new Panda and Cinquecento yum
So someone hasn't been keeping up with Fiat nes bulletins then?

Same engine is due to be fitted to new 500 Abarth with the same power outputs...

Alfa version of the same engine is supposed to offer over 195bhp so expect further upgrades (the difference is entirely in the ECU).

nope, will be down to a little more than just ECU,

The Abarth has a different intercooler, obviously diff remap, larger injectors and slightly diferent turbo. thats from trust sources. I am actually looking forward to seeing this as i have previously owned both a Punto GT and mk2 Punto HGT. i reckon the psorting may be a cracking deal to go for after a year when they slip down to the 7k mark ( sporting that is)

I had a 1.9 Multijet Sporting 130bhp and its been a cracking car! the ride and handling has been great, the mid range torque is fantastic and it has all the equipment you will ever need. Cant wait for the Abarth though!
(not sure why it says the 1.4 turbo is the hottest when the diesel has more power and torque)

What's that strange lump on the roof above the windscreen?
It's a light that comes on when there's less than 5 chavs squeezed inside listening to drum and bass, to let some more fit in.
i believe its a wind deflector for the skydome sunroof....although the chav theory is proabably what its meant for wink

hello everyone...my first post!
