Germany is looking better and better everyday. The UK seems to hell bent on making 1984 a reality.

To live in a country where one would be allowed to think for one's self....

There are other advantages to Germany -

It has a real car industry!

It has the 'ring!

If you drive for long enough you can vist near enough half the world without neading a plane, boat, train or other transport smile touring heaven smile

because if she went for the restrictions we endure, she'd wipe out the need for German car producers to make anything that will do more than 180 kph.
Which would wipe out her home motor industry.

Indeed.

With some 15% of the traffic doing more than 110 mph,
she would be advised by her ministers to set the
limit at the 85%ile, which would be 110 mph, or 180 kph.

No point owning anything capable of more than about
200 or 220 kph in that case.

Nothing over about 2.0 or 2.5 litres, then.

She'd be voted out at the next elections.

The problem we have here is that there are too many numpties who pay zero attention to what they are doing. If they don't see a marked up police car with full blues & twos on the go, how will they notice an M5 doing 150+?

After you have had a M5 at 150+ nearly park in your boot you treat the offside lane with RESPECT !
It wasn't me!

Apart from speed, and as a consequence of speed, one big difference on the Autobahn compared with the motorways here is the need to use the brakes if you do drive fast. The rhythm tends to go:

accelerate to 230+, brake on approach to slower car, watch him move over, accelerate again. Repeat x many. Hit long empty straight. GO!
