Surely if its an Avro car it should have a sodding great Olympus jet engine strapped to the roof and 'V' bomber sytle wings

"The 720 Mirage is available exclusively from Avro – and once these cars are completed, we believe there will be no more."

"Whittle, Accufab, Mafia, KW, Stillen, AP Racing"

Exclusive?? Looks like they just rooted through the max power bin and charged a hefty premium.

Surely this car is a joke. An Ultima GTR720 can be had for something like £40,000 if you build it yourself, or £65,000 from the factory. Its also a lot lighter, and a lot faster.

What a waste this car is.
What if someone wants a Ford GT custom build though?

It is a free world after all.

(The Ultima is a great car, but in looks (exterior and interior) the GT is well ahead.)
The people who have the kind of money to spend on these type of cars want something unique, for one-up manship etc

If you want a road legal track toy then yes you can't do much better than an Ultima.

With only 10 being built they will have this.

Certainly in that colour their going to be bought by people who want to be noticed. Its an image machine for those who know about cars and want others who also know to notice them.

I must be a geek as that's what I thought about when I saw the name 'Avro'

Oh, I don't know... Having recently returned from Rio I'd say that nubile Brazilian virgins are rarer than these cars!

No. You'll get 3 to 4 laps from a tank.
Really? Utilising all 720bhp on a hot lap? That'll be about 3mpg if you're lucky... you might get 3 laps if you pootle round in sixth, otherwise I reckon you'll be lucky to make it to Adenau on the second lap...

Heady days - one of these and a 'vette ZR1 should satisfy any 'pistonhead'.
Pity the UK doesn't lend itself to driving these machines in the manner for which they are designed. Hello autobahn, hello Nevada......

Can't help but think it's a marketing exercise after the 600RE, when they saw how many people would pay more for extra exclusivity...
What have they done compared to the 600RE, painted it orange, turned up the wick on the supercharger and named the components while flicking through a dictionary... scratchchin
I would adore one, but the 600RE looked miles better in black with the black wheels. Looked like the devil in car form.... cloud9

When I was working at Roush start of this year they where making this car started off red with gold wheels at least the one they where working on was, sounds awesome when it is started up. My Boss has one of the 9 remaining Roush 600RE apparently people are always offering to buy it off him for much more than what he paid so the demand must be there.

The exterior is purely subjective to personal choice; as for the interior I disagree. Having owned an Ultima GTR with a bespoke full leather and alacantara interior, and having bespoke hand crafted dials in aluminium and being loaned a Ford GT for a whole week for comparison, the plastic fantastic interior of the fast Ford is of no better quality than a new Fiesta. At least with an Ultuma you can spec what you want, and the top factory cars were done by the top Noble upholsteres. If you look at the later TVR interiors with high quality materials like leather and alluminium, you won't find build quality like that in a Ford GT but you will in an Ultima because you can spec what you like..

that aside I would still have a Ford GT although the Ultima would 'rip it a new one' purely on power to weight biggrin
