Isn't that a big fat dirty diesel loco (not an electric one) in your photo examples.
However, it's a fair bit more acceptable than a foul disgusting Cayenne, which probably pumps out more crap relative to what it pulls than a big seventies Yankee cross state freight train.
Cayennes are the epitamy of motoring obscenity, driven by fat-lardy-'two fingers to the planet' types who have no respect because they show no repsect.
Sticking a hairdrier motor under the bonnet doesn't really change much at all.

It's a diesel electric hybrid. Porsche may be offending the purists and died in the wool Porsche fanatics (I'm certainly not one of them, never been a fan) with their ever more diverse range of cars and so called 'selling out', but it has made them a hugely, hugely succesful company.
There 911/Cayman/Boxster variants constantly pull in fabulous reviews and plaudits and are aknowledged as amongst the best out there.

Not sure why you think it would cost loads to fix or why you think it will need it as soon as the warranty is up?
Also have a look at US sales of hybrids, they needed to come with an 8 year drive train warranty before people would buy them. Batteries cost $10,000 to replace and that figure has not come down nor is likely to while demand for precious metals needed increases. Who's going to buy a second hand hybrid a day out of warranty?
Still I guess an 8 year shelf life for cars will keep the manufacturers and the taxman happy.
Added: while some of your pictures are relevant, Iceland's power solutions are hardly readily transferable and there is still only one of those red snakes.
