I've had a tag (as in dart tag not an ankle tag) for ages and now days apart from the discount it offers no advantage for congestion and speed of travel at all, originally they had a dedicated tag lane on the far right hand side which apart from the odd selfish numpty who ignored the signs was kept pretty clear and acted like an express lane for tag users, now days although the signage is still there saying it's a "tag lane only" it appears to used in the same way as the other cash bin lanes and ignored. I don't know if this is due to the increase in tag users (dartford & thurrock residents now get a free tag and free crossings) or the growth in the ignorant ignoring the signs because they know they can still throw cash in the bin, but one things for sure you don't get through any quicker with a tag.

I had a dart-tag for about a month then sent it back with a long strongly worded letter. As a driver of a car-derived van I wasn't allowed to use the dart-tag lanes, so didn't see the bloody point in having one. Oh, and it took me three months & numerous phone calls to get my money refunded. mad

According to Wikepedia "Dartford Bridge"
quote:
On the 13th of September 2009 the contractors of the Dartford River Crossing (Le crossing) changed to Connect Plus M25, which again is made up of a consortium of Atkins, Egis, Skanska, and Balfour Beatty.

The proposed sale of the M25 Dartford Bridge and Tunnel is not moral or sensible or economical or in the best interests of the tax payer. We are asking the PM to make a bold decision and restore the public's faith in politics by keeping to the promises made when the bridge was built 20 years ago. It has paid for itself 10 times over. The bridge and tunnel's daily jams are amongst the worse in Europe, thousands of local residents are suffering and dying as a result of millions of tonnes of carbon emissions from vehicles using the crossing daily. Please keep the bridge public and end the pollution by ending the tolls. Selling the bridge off will raise peanuts in the current climate, given the 600 billion given to failed banks, selling the crossing will mean more congestion, cost and carbon foot print-pollution is choking people slowly to death. We just want fairness and justice for the taxpayer. Folk are struggling to make ends meet.Help the masses:Please stop this sale & madness

Is it just me or does this government seem to be doing its damnest to mess up as much stuff as they can before they deservedly get the punt at the next election.

Smacks of desperation: 'If we can be in charge then we're going to mess it up for everyone following our dismal show' type of attitude.

Pathetic and damaging in equal measure!

wavey Labour... at long last. What a joke!
Since selling vital infrastructure and natural monopolies is a Conservative policy through and through, who do you propose voting for next time?
Labour went up 3 points in the polls yesterday (helluva lot 'o gullible people in this country!).

However, re 'who do you propose voting for next time?

In my view it doesn't matter (they'll probably be as bad - no, that's not possible!)

BUT this shower has to get the biggest kicking off its life, surely, if only to make us all feel better the morning after the election results.

It would just be nice if when they get kicked out, that all the quangos and politically-correct morons that plague our daily lives, went to hell with them - let them go burn in their own global warming theories.
