The journalist was trying very hard not to like the car. Pathetic article really, however it is a trait of many UK jouralists to knock anything British, just because it is, rather that if it is substandard.

Having spent many a day at British Sports Car Shows in the US of A, I'd say he sounds distinctly American..

Autoweek is American, but (strangely) the author used the word "motorway" which is exclusively Brit. Maybe he's their European contact - or maybe a British ex-pat.

Nasty scathing crummy article though. It's not a bad motor and it deserves better. There are times when I wish the American psyche would disappear up its own jacksie, but I suppose we musn't be upset by ignorance.

I must confess that MG's marketing has totally won me over! I used to adopt the scathing hairdresser's car attitude towards MGs, but now that they're British again I feel quite defensive of them and my reaction to them on the road is different too!

Ok, done some investigating and he's a Yank. I found direct dial numbers for his offices in London and Los Angeles, and his email address

Indeed - MGF = babbage, but MGTF = Far more interesting

Wonder if they've put a gear linkage in the TF which is made from metal rather than Farleys Rusks..

More interesting from Rover in the futre has to be the v8 ( Mustang / Ford ) lumps being shoehorned into their euroboxes.

Why not shoehorn the V8 into the MGF and make a decent mid-engined car out of it. I have driven a race-prepared F and it was pretty good, just lacking in power!
