Certainly agree about Moto GP. Best racing in the world - sheer bravery with incredible skill - I watch them all.

Total agreement. Very glad that a non-biking expert such as yourself can appreciate the skill of these amazing riders. Quite incredible scenes out there on track.

What happened to the seven spectators exactly?

rgds, Carl.

Carl,

Minor injuries, concussions, except for one who nearly lost a leg. Thank God they were able to save it, and he made a complete recovery. He didn't ask to spend all that time in hospital though, did he?

This is the nightmare of modern rally spectating, and you have to wonder how long before something like the Levegh Le Mans tragedy happens in rallying.

Something more cheerful:

I've watched the Moto GPs on Eurosport since they started showing them, but apparently the British interest is almost 100% for Superbikes. No disrepect to Superbikes, but I can't figure out why this is?

Ian.

I would normally agree with Flying gibbon about bike racing, but did you see the first superbike races this year? Big yawns all round with only a few exceptions.

You saw a different race to me then. I thought it was excellent, those last couple of laps were superb. If you've never seen them live than I highly recommend it when they come to the UK. You really get to see how much on the limit they are on every corner. I know if ever I tried it there would be more then a black line on the track behind me!

BTW Mcnab is absolutly right MotoGP is also excellent. (yes went to see them live last year as well). I think Channel 5 have improved things for MotoGP as before the only bike racing you got to see on terestial was the 30mins if it didn't interfear with the snooker on bbc 2.

On the turbo topic B&Q are advertising a turbo lawnmower I was half asleep when I heard it and thought WTF WHY?

Dreadful, and an awful controversy at the time, because other drivers were blamed for the disaster.

Thanks for the Link McNab... that has got me interested in a "would like to know the truth and 'how' the crash happened" kind of way!

Sounds awful though!

What do you mean by, others drivers where blamed for the disaster???

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression Smegol,I wasn't knocking SBK,riders just seemed a lot more spread out than usual.Frankly, I don't know how they can sit on a bike with with the size of balls needed to ride like that!

Probably got something to do with having a 4 time world champion - Carl Fogarty.
Anyway GP500 is the pinnacle of 2 wheel racing - it makes SBK look lame & F1 intolerably boring [imho].

MotoGP is much better these days but in the days of Mick Doohan it was just another parade of also rans trailing in his dust, very dull indeed.

That's true but in the days before Doohan's reign there was Schwantz, Rainey, Lawson, Gardner, Mamola - it was fantastic. Those guys retired & no-one else came through except Doohan. During his time 500 was dull. Rossi has reignited 500 & last season was the best 500 GP season for many a year.

Too true I agree about spread out more lots of little races rather than a whole gang but I seem to remember that it started like that last year and got bl**dy close towards the end of season.

Plus First national Race on Sunday at Mallory Park whoo hoo its been a long winter.

Matty,

Katoh has looked unstoppable - Rossi v Katoh might be an eye-opener, sooner rather than later! What do you think?

The ex-250 boys will soon all be kicking 500 butts. Katoh v Rossi - mmm....my money's on Rossi at the moment. But you're right, Katoh was superb in 250 last year.

Anyone who has Sky Digital prepare yourselves for a nasty shock. Valentino Rossi has grown a botanical garden all over his face - whiskers, moustache, pointed beard - the lot. He just doesn't look real any more.....

They're doing a pre-season roundup on Motors TV (channel 429) - unfortunately at unpredictable times - but worth a search.

Anyone who has ITV start steeling yourself for another dose of Rosenthal.
If they made him wear a helmet not only would it add to the authenticity of the coverage, not only would we not have to see his gurning mug, but we might not be able to hear him congratulating us for being "the real formula 1 fans" again.
