Environmentalabelingconfusion

Will consumers be confused. Will consumers care? Will the SMMT complain? Will the Government listen. Is this a dull story? Only you can decide.

What a waste of time and resources. I have no intention of buying a car based on its environmetally friendliness. Of course numpties may well look at a label like this. I assume it will be based on a ppm pollutant basis, which actually does not take into account the relative engine sizes. Thus a larger engine with lower ppm output will be seen as more friendly than a tiny slightly less efficient engine, despite the fact that twice as much pollutants are emitted. Not that I really care anyway I suppose the most friendly will be coded 'green'

Nothing wrong with the idea in principal, but my response would stil be, "Sorry, you've mistaken me for someone who gives a ".

It'll probably be a meaningless measure. Will they take into account the energy input required to produce the car in the first place as well as the fuel it burns thereafter? Doubt it. Marcos would probably win on that basis...
