Already got a Disco 3 so no real desire for a RRS.

Gosh this is painful - not driven the car since mid/late June and engine now broken. So no summer driving at all. Hopefully it wont be too much longer.

You actually 'sound' depressed Gazzab! I hope it won't be too much longer for you as well - it's all been rather unfortunate Do you want to talk about borrowing one?

Hopefully we can soon complete some analysis of the problem and conclude a way forward but I think I can write off the summer. In fact I am so peed off I am not sure I do even want to drive one! Having spent probably £13K on the car over the last year or two I was hoping to be able to put some miles on it. But alas its not to be. I think someone is trying to tell me something - sell up and get a BMW.

Last year or so... Excludes current work :-) My avg bill is 6k pa I guess over 7 years or so?? All rough n ready no's though. I like my cars perfect and some spend isn't always desparately needed. It's only money. I am still well behind my wife's handbag spend :-) They are expensive cars to keep perfect, ask an indie!

Obviously out for a little while if you've gone to the trouble of fitted a spare engine. Bet you notice the difference. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Have you found out what the original failure was yet?

Don't know yet - we will look at engine this week. RP are being extremely helpful etc ie fitting the spare engine The engine going in has 0 miles on it, so I will be running it in before it goes in a racer. It's a 4.2 and so will be interesting to see what it's like.

I feel your pain mate, had got the cerbera ready for some serious summer fun, last thing was a new clutch and slave fitted @ Power at the beginning of April...get one car show in then drop down dead with a cardiac arrest...then follows some repair work to my heart valve fitment of an ICD ...along with a six month driving licence withdrawal..still.. pine box vs driving ban...easy choice although I am the worst passenger ever Good luck with the cerb, you'll get there

Hope that you get it back soon and then you'll fall back in love with your car!

Yippee car back! A massive thanks to raceproved, they have treated me very well.
My car now has a loan engine in it - a 4.2. It's pouring with rain and so I haven't had a chance to really drive it but it seems to be well set up and well mannered. It's fab to be back in the cerb and it's thanks to the generosity and great ethics etc from RP.
They took the heads off my 4.5 engine. It doesn't appear to have any physical damage ie no liner crack etc. The head gasket appears to have failed. I have some photos that I took earlier. The gaskets were new just over a year ago so a little premature. So hopefully my engine will be sorted soon etc
New RP exhaust looks and sounds immense.
