Corroded chassis members repair questions

Sorry to hijack your thread (fantastic work by the way) but this seems to be the go to place for chassis advice...
At the weekend I discovered this
This is the leading edge of the outer most corner of my outrigger (Front passenger side)
There is a hole that I can get a screwdriver right inside! The rest of the chassic 'looks' ok.
Two questions:
As we are only a couple of months away from the season beginning I'm hoping for something to help get me through til Oct / Nov time whereby I can then tackle the problem through the winter. I really don't want to lift the body or replace outriggers just yet.
What should my next step be? Smack a load of waxoyl on it? Strip back that section and paint with POR 15?
MOT time is in July, in your experience would this be a fail?
Thanks
Lee

Firstly I'm really no expert at all so any advice would be what I would do...which would be to get it to a trusted indy, Dan Taylor maybe as he's down that way, and get an assessment of the whole outrigger first, then make a decision. My thoughts would be for my protection in a crash and as you can see from mine...I'd have been in trouble!
My Cerb passed 2 MOT's with all it's issues, so I guess it depends how well it can be hidden, if you want to do that and how "sympathetic" the tester is to TVR's.

Yep 'tis a splitter. It does a pretty similar job to the angled aluminium one by all accounts....but looks nicer IMHO. Sourced from the Carbon Cerbie website guys...looks superb and a bloody good fit right off the bat too.
Please show me piccies when fitted. Dare I ask how much?Well, zero progress on the re-spray (which is annoying) and forgot to add pics of the latest bits'n'bobs to have arrived....I did post to the Cerb FB page, but forgot this...getting too old....anyway here goes....
New CF kick plates
Refurbished windscreen pillar trims
ACT CF airboxes, trumpet backplates and new induction hoses
New ACT Sports exhaust
and finally Zircotech ceramic coated manifolds (decat pipes also coated)

Its looking great!
Are you doing the headlight conversion yourself? If so, what parts did you need to buy and how do you have to wire it into the existing setup? Im considering doing mine as it needs a front end respray and I have the fibreglass pods already.
Haha...not a chance in Hell. I'd be there forever. Same guys doing the respray did all the fettling and fitting. Are you doing the headlight conversion yourself? Nice. Looks quite different with no indicators. Presumably the small light will be used for that and you'll have sidelights in with the headlights?Nothing that can't be reversed if I don't like it though as the indicator apertures are still there. I did a paintshop mock up of how it would look, so had I good idea before I committed to spending money on it.

Looks good but how are you going to get it thorough an MOT without side indicators?
I thought (maybe I am wrong) side indicators are a legal requirement.
Yes you're correct for the need of side repeaters and they will be there, just not in the same position. Short term solution wont look particularly pretty, but will get it thru the MOT so I can drive it at least.I thought (maybe I am wrong) side indicators are a legal requirement.
Well it's been a while since the last PH update....and the restoration has just ticked past the 3 year mark, so thought it was a good time to bring things up-to-date.
Andy at APM has been patiently working his way through a myriad of pernickety issues that just serve to eat up time, as well as putting up with my occasional visits and now tackling the minor task of getting all the electrics to work!
So a couple of additional pics to update progress....

Normally I'm a bugger for keeping things as original as possible, but those faired in lights look fantastic. The engine bay looks absolutely spectacular, you must be itching to get behind the wheel after all this time.
I've been itching a long time!! But when its so close to being finished and on a beautifully fresh, crisp and dry day like today, Id love to be able to just take her out and waste some hydrocarbons Edited by djstevec on Sunday 9th November 13:52

It would be great to drive you down to APM when your car is finally ready to collect. I can't wait to see you drive it home.
But you have to promise not to compare and contrast, that would be very unfair!
Just let me know when

Very much appreciated. Tanguero has already offered, as I took him and Mrs Tanguero to pick up theirs from APM a while back. I've got a feeling it'll be a week day pick-up, so might be easier all round for me to jump on a train rather than put people out. But I still don't have a date yet, so nothing's set.

I am sure if TVR had those lights available when building the cerbs they would have put them in instead of the bosch candlestick holders . Faired in conversion is the way to go. I never thought it suited the different front end of the chimaera though. Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
