Chassis Refurb
Discussion
I'm trying to do a couple of hours a day, just taking it slow & steady and trying to keep my fingers warm!!!
Most of the front end is back together but found that one of my upper ball joints was damaged, so am replacing them. All I'll say is "Jeez..." they were a sod to shift and I'm glad I've got a press in the garage to push it out from the ring!!
I'm hoping that most of the rear should be back together by the weekend as I've spent a while prepping, cleaning threads, etc...

Good job sir....Ive got all this to look forward to!
Pointers so far...The thickness of the powder coat makes getting joints together & bolts through somewhat difficult at times! Make sure you have a round file in your toolkit, as well as a rubber mallet (a copper faced one is very useful too).
Don't fit your rear ARB upside down or your rear hubs back-to-front!!!

I found that a tapered reamer like these was essential when it came to reassembling.

Well... Using the 'Little and often' approach, she's almost ready for the body to go back on. There are a few parts I'm waiting for but otherwise it's all looking good. The remaining jobs are:
M
- Fit handbrake shoes (waiting for bits).
- Fit rear disks & callipers.
- Lower rear wishbone adjuster nuts.
- Power steering hoses.
- Exhaust hangers.
- New tyres.
M
As it has been a while, I suppose it's time for an update:
So... I didn't make it to Chatsworth but at least all the bits are now in one place, awaiting assembly.
M
- In Feb, when all the bits arrived, the chassis finally went back together and is now back in the workshops where the engine and body shell are stored.
- I have haemorrhaged yet more cash on new parts but I'm convincing myself it'll be worth it as they're the not so easy to get to parts (I don't want to be replacing them again anytime soon)!
- The engine is having a light 'fettling' to cure a couple of minor oil leaks, tidy up and a general once over while easily accessible on a bench.
- We've found a couple of cracks in the manifolds, so we'll be welding those up before wrapping.
So... I didn't make it to Chatsworth but at least all the bits are now in one place, awaiting assembly.

Admittedly this is going back on rather than coming off, but the angle is the same.
Having done two body lifts, one with the engine in and one with the engine out, don't even think of doing it engine in. It is massively easier to do with the engine out.
Probably also time to post this again!

Holy thread resurrection Bat Man!!
It has taken a while but she's finally back on the road.
A divorce ended up scuppering all my plans for a while, so had to put the Cerbera and Landy into storage for a number of years. Last year, I managed to get things moving again, got the Landy back on the road and the Cerbera assembled enough to be dropped off at Kudu (Formerly Neil Garners), to finish it off and give it a clean bill of health.
Mid-March, I get the call... She's ready for collection!
...but before I can get there, BoJo makes his announcement and we're into lockdown
This week, I manage to collect her and with my usual display of impeccable timing, I finally collect her on probably one of the wettest days we've had for weeks. Just in time for one of the wettest weekends since going into lockdown.
Hey ho, at least she's back and now ready for a bit of a shakedown to sort out niggles.

Nice well done on the long project.
I remember that I also praised NG, but I don't use them anymore after Neil left, if you want you can PM me for details as we aren't allowed to name and shame, but I now travel an hour extra to St8Six.
I would check any work you think you've had done...
