Agreed it is a cammy engine, but with a 4v setup you'd not need to go for such a wild cam and you could achieve the flow needed for higher rpm power too.
True, true, but the overlap gives the cerb a lot of its character. I wouldn't want to be without the pops and bangs on the overrun. The racy cam might be necessary to get the horses out of the AJP but I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact this is what puts me off the LS, even though it is demonstrably better in other respects.

Pops and bangs can be added to any engine via the management system. wink

The LS is superb but the character itself of the AJP is simply unsurpassable. It's a very special lump of metal.

I think it's very good for someone to explore development angles such as this head. It'll be fascinating to see what character it gives the engine. But you are spot on that if it changes the dynamic completely it could be a let down even if it delivers more power, such is the character of the original.

Sorry gents - trying to read between the lines but not sure I'm getting 1+1=2

There would presumably need to be a lot of development work on this engine with cams etc since the cylinder bank angle is different, huh?

Might cost a good few quid to get right and, although awesome, may not be worth it, really!

Yes - my response was it is zero in the context of a profitable and worthwhile venture as I caoulndt see (m)any being bought and I thought I knew who was building it and the past history.

Suspect that the chap who built it was the same chap who built a number of other 'famous' engines. Snap, crackle, pop.

Sorry to hear that, but TBH not entirely surprised.

Seems like a massive project, with no market, and a rather confused ethos. After all, the whole concept of the AJP8 was simple, light, raw. Not big, heavy, refined - that market is totally oversubscribed.

It's really sad to hear that they short change their own suppliers aswell as customers. Very sad. Someone needs to wring these clowns out once and for all. Not everyone can afford to be fleeced.

Was hoping this update was going to be a technical one frown

Ah well, sounds like this is 'done' then and not in the good sense frown
