I bought a cheap 9" Capacitive Allwinner A23 Android Tablet, but the app is not visible in the play store on this, so these are a no no to buy just for the app. It would have been ideal as they are less than £40.
Brilliant work Aide and thought it would take of after seeing it all those years ago, hope you do well out of it.

Thanks Kev,
Yes it was in Chatsworth that I first showed you the app in its first draft.
It went through a few iterations since then.
If you click on this PlayStore listing, using the browser on your Android tablet, it'll open the rs-ajp page and will let you know if it's compatible.
Best wishes (and are we ever going to be back in Chatsworth?!)

Well, it did !, I have connected it to my car and it was fine.

Now when I try to open it, I just get a black screen with circle timer, then it tells me it has stopped and I can report....

Hi Ant
Darren [Vee8ight] is getting the same behaviour. I added some last minute functionality yesterday before I released it and it has a small bug in it. I'm just about to release a fix as we speak.
Please accept my sincere apologies, I should have left well enough alone!
Best
Aide!

The app showed in the play store with that link, so I presume that means it would work (I'm used to IOS not Android) I will now just have to sort my leads out.
Latest edit, I've just clicked on the link on my Windows PC and it tells me my laptop is compatable, click on the link with the Android Tablet and it says nothing, so not compatible, bugger frown
Regarding Chatsworth, who knows, it would be nice for it to happen again, but it's now not up to me as I've passed it on to the club, 2014 was just unfortunate due to the holiday timings etc.

I have found that lack of Internet causes the issue, like most apps, and smartphones, Internet access is needed when opening the app.

Yes, I added a licensing policy to the app, it needs an internet connection to validate itself. It's pretty aggressive for now, but I'm aware that some people want to put this on an old/cheap phone/tablet and leave it in their car all the time, so I'll relax the policy such that it only checks once a year or something.

V 1.01 has been released - it will take a few mins for the cogs at Google Play to turn and distribute the app to all the PlayStore mirrors.

Please go easy on me in the ratings!

Thanks for your patience!

I'll write up some detailed cable documentation (at work!) tomorrow smile

Best wishes

Hi Aide

So is there little point in buying it now if I was planning on using it on an old android phone which has no internet connection, or a tablet with no 3G? I guess with the phone I could stick £5 on a giffgaff sim.

Also, is there zero chance of an iOS version being published?

Cheers.

Hi Cockey

If you have an old phone/tablet, and it has a wifi connection, and you want to use it to run the app on, all you have to do is share the wifi connection on the phone you use every day with the old phone/tablet.

Every time you turn on your old phone/tablet that runs the app, it will just use the data connection on your mobile to get internet access for that slpit second that is needs to validate itself.

I am going to relax the licensing policy so that it checks very infrequently, but you could hardly expect me to release it without putting some sort of logic in place that protects it from being freely distributed?

Kind regards
Aide!
(Ps: I would love to say “Yes” there will be an iOS version, but for the immediate future I’m going to concentrate on getting the Android version as streamlined as possible.)

I am trying to get my head round the cable scenario.
Is it not possible to simply have 1 lead with micro usb on 1 end for phone connection and 3 pin (as per my 2001 cerb ecu) on the ecu end ? Or is this not possible???

I've tried it on my Sony Xperia Tablet Z SGP311, the program appears to run o.k. although it won't connect to the car.

Lead is a ftdi chipset USB to 9pin serial, I'm quietly confident the lead/driver is o.k. as I've used it with various other programs....plus a mouse/keyboard/memory stick all work through the port.

Do you have any ideas that I could try..keep it simple :-)

Mark

Hi Sandy
I have just literally updated the PlayStore listing with detailed cable and connection information.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com....
It might take a few minutes for my update to be available.
Best wishes
