Aide, I've installed the app on a samsung galaxy s2. I presume the lower screen resolution is the reason I'm only seeing parts of the layout. I've managed to delete everything that I can see (I am sure there are a few things left off screen) and add a few items.

Could you include a facility to wipe one/all screens in settings ? Not sure if running additional invisible dials in an issue, but if it saves on resources, would be good to clear them.

Other thoughts, have you considered setting alarms, these phones/tablets can make noises, so might be good to have an alarm on certain conditions/thresholds.

Thanks, app looks great, will test in car as soon as my flat battery is fixed !
Hi Greg

Thanks for the feedback.

Good news that the app works on the S2

I'll add a Wipe and Reset menu option asap.

You know that if you connect your mouse to your phone via your USB OTG cable it makes it easier to customise your layout?

Once you’re happy with your layout you can save it – and then email it to me so I can incorporate it onto every release smile

Best wishes
Aide
Can I ask how you installed it on an S2? Play Stores is telling me it's not a compatible device so cannot buy.

Hi Cockey

We tested the S2 last week and it's a bit of a grey area.

It says that it is usb host capable, but when theFrog tested it he couldn't get it to work.

He's pretty tech savvy so I'd say he's right.

So, I have removed support for it from the PlayStore until I'm sure it's supported.

As I don't have access to a S2 I can't test it myself.

Sorry for the confusion.

Best wishes

Ive got a note 2 which i'm hoping to test on this weekend. Is there a way for me to also try on the S2 as I have an old spare. I could try on a few google phones also as my neighbour has a few I think and he is a super tech guy!

Hi scerbera
Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the Note 2.
The S2 doesn't work.
I'd love to help everyone individually to get their particular flavour of device, cable and version of android working (believe me it's possibe even without OTG) but I sincerly don't have the time. It's going to have to be a case of giving it a try, working it out and perhaps sharing your findings on here?
Best wishes

Hi aide

If I plug a mouse in to the S2 I can happily use the cursor. Perhaps the USB OTG cable he used wasn't compatible?

I'm happy to take the risk if you were willing to temporarily reinstate the S2. Won't be able to download it until tomorrow now though.

I could get hold of a Note2 so would be keen to know if it works and on what cables (to charge at the same time) before I buy the app or cables.

Please let me know if you get this working.

Thanks

Anyone had a go at mounting the nexus 7. I am looking to find a way to mount mine to the bottom of the radio. Mounted in a hinged bracket so I can simply fold it away when parked up etc

Aide, Cockey, it may well be a cable issue after all. I bought a 2nd Gen Nexus 7 yesterday and the cable I had doesn't work (it's a Y cable with power), I got a straight USB adapter from Maplins (http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-tech-on-the-go-micro-usb-to-female-usb-n36qg) and all is well.
I can try the S2 again with the new cable and report back, but only if I can install it from Playstore as I've wiped the device after failing to get it to work...

I'm hoping to get it working on a Note2 so thinking about mounting options too as similar size to the Nexus. Please let us know how you get on and post pics.

In fact we should all post pics of it running with the mounting options you are all going for....

It would be great if you could test it to see if it's ok and then perhaps add an entry on the status table for newcomers? smile

Thanks Greg..

When you click on Save Layout the app creates a file in a directory called rs-ajp in DeviceStorage.

The filename is just a timestamp with a .rs-ajp extension.

With the following format:
YYYY-MM-DD hh-mm-ss.rs-ajp

So, all you have to do is save your layout, locate the directory and email me the layout file.

HTH!

Hi Aide, will try. I copied yours but it's not pretty ! Lacks alignment, consistent sizes, etc...

Tried the tab 3 btw, and a mouse wouldn't work, so presume it wouldn't work with you app either.

Yes, it takes a bit of time to get all the dials lined up smile
But.. If you connect your mouse using the OTG cable it makes it much easier to move and resize the dials etc..
Have fun!
