ECU Diagnostic Software Re-Write
Discussion
Hi Aide,
I have read through the pages of this thread to see what i need. The playstore link to the TVR lead is dead, so I just wanted to make sure I have found the correct one, and have the other correct leads. May I just confirm these are the right leads for my late cerb. I need three leads, as I have the three pin plug. This is what I plan to order:
http://tvr-parts.com/tvr-parts/part-details/tvr-rp...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00425S1H8/ref=...
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-tech-on-the-go-mi...
I have an old android tablet which i will try first. Failing that i will get myself the nexus 7
Cheers,
Steve

Yep 100% correct, with a late Cerbera, three cables are required.
Thanks for pointing out that the link to the data lead has changed.
I've updated the PlayStore listing with the correct link and listed the cables you need below.
The Data lead:
http://tvr-parts.com/tvr-parts/part-details/tvr-rp...
The USB to Serial Lead:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00425S1H8/ref=...
And a USB OTG cable:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0064GZAIQ?psc=...
this one's tried and tested, works 100% and is much cheaper than the Maplin one
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Best wishes

Are these needed for a mk 1 Tuscan or will a different set be required?

It depends on what ECU connection is available in your car - there a two different types.
You'll definitely need the USB to Serial cable and the USB OTG cable (assuming you've never connected any diagnostic software until now)
But you'll only need the Data Lead if you have an external three pin fly lead at the ECU end of the loom. This was added later. On older cars (Cerberas in this case, I'm not sure about Tuscans - perhaps someone can clarify?) access to the ECU for diagnostic software is made via a female 9pin D-sub RS-232 port on the ECU pcb board (there are example pics posted just above on this thread)

Bit the bullet and bought the £12 cable, delivered next day by Amazon.
Transformed the setup experience, so much easier, very impressed with the clear layouts.
Very interesting to see how the tacho and temp gauge over-read. I've even got my car to idle under 1000 for the first time ever by starting again with the throttle linkage and throttle stop. It really is important to get the engine warm because everything changes when it's at operating temp.

Hi aide - any update on the Bluetooth add-on? Cheers

Bluetooth is on the cards, but I don't have any specific date and wouldn't like to promise a wireless option and have people waiting for something that might not materialize on time.
Snowed under at present with family/work stuff and am finding it hard to even get a spare few hrs to make a start on the list of enhancements I have! Hi Tim,
It should be pretty painless.
1. Install the app.
2. Connect all the cables together.
3. Connect cables to the ECU first.
4. Unlock the Nexus screen and then plug in the micro usb otg cable
5. You should get a popup dialog with the title: "Choose an app for the USB device"
6. Select RS-AJP and click "Always"
If you have any trouble ping me a pm and I'll talk you through.
