Gen 1 (2012) and 2 (2013) don't have the same resolution. Yours is 1280x800, mine is 1920x1200.
That will be why then !!!

I finally have all the leads and parts I need to start my dash-mounted tablet project.

Get in the car to take it out of the garage and.. no clutch pedal. The slave was done 3 months ago. What is it with these cars and clutches?! It really fks me off!!

Fluid added and air removed (tip: to remove air, hold pedal to floor for a while (20-30s) while bleeding).

Clutch action restored. For now..

Aide, bought the app to go with the cheap tablet but a month later the tablet battery is fked, can I just upload the app to a new tablet when I get one or am I expected to pay for the app again too?

No, should be yours with your google play account. Regardless of your device.

I have a cheap bracket that I'm gonna try out. It is supposed to be for mounting to an air vent but the plan is to wedge that bit into the gap above the stereo. It's going to be a bit Heath Robinson and I have had to modify it somewhat but the end result might be passable. Will do a thread on it if it works out ;-)

I am now trying to take the instrument binnacle off

My plan is to mount mine some form of hinge below the stereo.

I have got the software to work (nice work Aide!) but having trouble charging the tablet at the same time. I have a dual lead which is USB A male and micro B male both coming into a USB A male. I have various adapters including a micro B female to USB A female. If I plug it one way round, the software works but tablet doesn't charge, and vice versa if I plug it in the other way. My plan is to have the tablet wired up such that it charges when the ignition is on.

I have also made up a rs232 ribbon extension from components bought at hobbytronics which works a treat and will allow me to close the lid of the ecu if I make a small cutout. It's an IDC arrangement but v easy to do, cost about £6.50 including 2m of ribbon although I didn't use it all - it is long enough to come up behind the dash above the passengers knees.

I am making progress...

I don't thnk you'll manage to charge at the same time as reading the ecu... Could you not crack open the tablet and wire up a way...?

The last thing I opened up sadly didn't survive the experience. If it's really that difficult there is always the inductive charging option but that means more wires and installation grief.

Hi HarryW, on your new tablet, if you log into it with the same google account as before you can restore all your apps. Afaik there's no upper bound on the number of installs per device so you should be ok.
HTH!

Re: simultaneously charging and supplying power to the USB-to-Serial cable.
I've spent ages on this. The only solution that works with my Samsung Galaxy SIII is by VAlarm ( info on earlier posts)

Hi Aide, wondering if you'd considered adding a rev-limit warning option to the app.

I'm thinking of three user-definable preset RPM numbers associated with Yellow, Amber and Red. Flash the background with the appropriate colour when the RPM is exceeded.
