Hi Aide, the video doesn't show how you've mounted it.

I've just bought a "nootle" universal holder which has a tripod screw hole on the back. Some tripod rod and was thinking about making a block of high density foam to wedge between the top parts of the dash above the radio, thread the tripod rod through that and secure it with big washers and nuts.

Maybe then cover the foam in a leather-like material so it matches the interior if it works, we'll see.

This from amazon.
The suction cup is actually the perfect size to wedge in the letter compartment just under the middle of the dash.
Works perfectly.

I wonder if one of those stereos with a motorised screen could be rebuilt with a nexus 7 screen instead. Not to make it work with the stereo but to have the nexus pop out and then plug in the ecu cable...

Nexus and head unit are both 7", but different form factor. The head units are more 4x3 whereas the Nexus is more 16:9, so you'd have to chop the sides of the nexus, or fold it in order to fit into the head unit smile

There are plenty of 1 din android head units with motorised touch screens available, they start around £200.

I guess it depends where your tablet is mounted. The fact that one is looking at the road ahead and not the rev counter is the very reason for a shift light, especially if it's very obvious (eg whole background changes colour and with audio even better). It would be especially useful for me because for some reason my rev counter stops when it gets to about 6.5krpm frown.

How about 3 colour settings for each of 6.5k, 6750 and 7k? Then we could choose {yellow, amber, red} or {none, red, red} or {amber, amber, red} etc etc
At least your Rev counter works up to 6k5. Whilst mine is OK at all revs, its not if you use WOT then it drops off and bounces around a bit! All componded by being a 96 car which has no change up buzzer fitted!!
Actually my rev counter stops at 6K, and so does the rs ajp one. I presume the physical dial is driven by the ecu. Where does the ecu get the info, is it from the crank sensor? If so I think I need a new one.

I won't be taking it over 6k rpm until it's fixed because I expect the ecu is using the fuelling and timing sites for 6k above that (causing mixture to lean out)

My app stops around 6k, but my dial does read higher!

If the amplitude of the crank sensor signal to the ECU isn’t high enough then, at higher frequencies, the ECU starts to fail to read it.

However in my tests, upping the amplitude corrected this failure to read.
i.e. with a strong enough signal feeding the ECU I could easily simulate 8000 rpm and read it from my test ECU via RS-AJP.

I have the same problem, and have a new sensor, and am going to fit it this weekend to see if it will cure the problem.

The sensor is a "Ford Fiesta, Granada, Sierra Crankshaft Sensor" from http://www.worldcarparts.co.uk/
It was £13.80 delivered and they take PayPal smile

The software runs on a DROID MX TV Box although I've yet to connect it up to the ECU ... I know nothing about ANDROID so may need some help ... do I need drivers for the serial/usb cable ?
The DROID Box has 4 USB ports so currently:-
USB 1 Flash Stick
USB 2 USB/Serial for Sag with TVR/MBE 3 pin ECU
USB 3 USB/V8 cable for Chim with Roverguage 14CUX ECU
USB 4 USB/ODB2 cable for Tuscan with PowerPerformance new MBE ECU

Then put it on the TV in the garage.

I was starting to think that that's a bit overkill sticking a 30" plasma on your passenger seat while driving lmao

Looks great on your wall tho smile

Just managed to make one of these myself. Took some messing on to get the ribbon cable to cut through into the plugs.

It does show a voltage. Just not all the time. Jumps about a bit.
