Aide, bought the app to go with the cheap tablet but a month later the tablet battery is fked, can I just upload the app to a new tablet when I get one or am I expected to pay for the app again too?
Hi HarryW, on your new tablet, if you log into it with the same google account as before you can restore all your apps. Afaik there's no upper bound on the number of installs per device so you should be ok.
HTH!
Aide
Aide got a new android tablet, but for the life of me I can't access my google account. I really can't remember it as I only used the account once just for your app, I'm a iPad man... I've been through all the recovery routes and been bounced!! I might have to create a new account.... If I do that I really don't want to pay twice for the app. Is there anything I can do?

Lovely feature with android when you've put too many attempts into remembering your password is to ask you to authenticate, but gives you no word to type in, wonderful...

That's good news HarryW, if you have any other probs let me know.
(I have so many passwords for various work & email, PlayStore & AppStore etc etc.. I always struggle with the least used one!)

If the amplitude of the crank sensor signal to the ECU isn’t high enough then, at higher frequencies, the ECU starts to fail to read it.

However in my tests, upping the amplitude corrected this failure to read.
i.e. with a strong enough signal feeding the ECU I could easily simulate 8000 rpm and read it from my test ECU via RS-AJP.

I have the same problem, and have a new sensor, and am going to fit it this weekend to see if it will cure the problem.

The sensor is a "Ford Fiesta, Granada, Sierra Crankshaft Sensor" from http://www.worldcarparts.co.uk/
It was £13.80 delivered and they take PayPal smile
I changed my crank sensor on Sunday and I still have the issue.
However, my dash rev counter happily goes past 7,000.
I have a couple of things I can do to investigate this further.
I might ask MBE for some insight as well, but they'll probably tell, me to shag off smile

I recently got a loan of a Samsung Gear S Watch.
So I'm going to add support for it shortly.
But before I do I'll spend this weekend adding Bluetooth support.
Best wishes

Thanks for the info. Do you know whether the crank sensor output goes to both the ecu and the dash tacho, simultaneously as it were, or does it supply one which then feeds the other? I'm just wondering how it works/which component could cause these symptoms.

Hi there,

Any recommendations on a good cheap tablet / phone to run this app? I will be buying it solely for this purpose ( unless it looks like becoming apple compatible any time soon? 😜), and i am keen to mount something as a permanent display in the dash cuddy.... Although i do also like thhe idea of front mounting on the dash to use as a HUD, althhough im guessing you end up with a distorted image due to collimation?

Unless, Aide, what is involved in making the app Pioneer car play compatible? I bought an all singing all dancing puoneer headunit, in the hope of running it on that, given they list themselves as android compatible, but this is only for CarPlay apps.... Is this something you have ever investigated?

I started with a cheap £60 no name Chinese one, it packed up within a month, luckily got me money back. I've now upgraded to a named Chinese one from Tesco, a HUDL-2, looks and feels much better quality at £99. Hopefully this will last as it gets pretty good reviews.....

There are plenty of 1 din android head units with motorised touch screens available, they start around £200.
Surely this only means they are compatible with android devices connected to them though? I have a pioneer single din head unit with fold out screen, and it only shows specific apps deisgned for their 'CarPlay' system......

If i could find a way to run the AJP app through this screen i would be laughing...... If not, my cockpit is gonna end up looking like some crazy technohub.....

Some of them (not from mainstream manufacturers) are essentially an android computer rather than a stereo.

Yes you may be able to hack/jailbreak it, to turn it into a generic android device. Worth a Google.

A 1-Din flip-out Android head unit would be the icing on the cake.
As long as it has PlayStore and a USB host enabled port it should work.
I believe some examples come with separate, pluggable, GPS and Bluetooth extras.
Having RS-AJP setup that way would be near perfect.
I could even add functionality to the app so it can run in the background all the time and perhaps even in split screen mode so that you could share the screen with other apps simultaneously (like a satnav)
I have a pretty clear calendar so will be spending as much time as I can on things like Bluetooth etc and I'll have a look at a few 1-Din hu's
