Your post was the one that made me look for the 086 smile. By 'budget' he meant price wise, and the technology in the battery. All 086's seem to have identical cca and Ah's.
It was a tight fit though, I had to alter the orientation of the +'ve cable clamp to the get the F1 panel to fit.

Ah I see what you mean and I would agree it was a tight fit but the 086 gives better cca and Ah than the standard 075 so worth it if it will fit and a damn sight cheaper than Optimas !

I have an Odyssey PC1500 which is 2mm smaller than the 086 and it is a tight fit and I have an alternate battery retaining bracket arrangement as the old one rusted out. The 190mm height may give you a bit more room too.

I now use a Varta Silver 078, loads of room to fit, terminals the right way round, whats not to like. It's powerful enough, even with my monster conpression to crank over, it has something like 63ahr and 610cca, more than adequate if the rest of the car is healthy imho.

Brining this back.

After 4.5ss rebuild the standard battery was struggling to crank after stopping and hot. Always needed a booster pack.

All this changed once fitting the Redtop which starts like a Monster BUT sods law I got a Nad one! had it less than a month and the thing doesn't like to hold a charge! from green full (on cute indicator) to amber over night!

I will be sending back to Tayna for their test but am sure the battery is at fault.. I think I'll be switching to a yellow top and heat shield wrapping it.

Just disconnect it overnight and see if it still loses charge.

Yes it does via my tests. Isolated and full charge (green light on ctek) at night to Amber the next morning.

They are adamant they will do their own tests but I'm confident to here results as that then narrows and points to another issue.

Must be a bad one I got then. Still with the various electronics I run the Yellow may be better suited to me (If I don't get a nap one that is).

6 years is something I'd like to look forward too.

Does the SpeedSix need a starter motor shim like the AJP8, may well do if it uses the same clutch bell-housing. Some cars seem to lose theirs at some point in their life, and this causes hot start issues - just ask Aide.

Spoke to aide re that it was more to do with heat soak with all the new bits. Once booster pack no prob and redtop battery fixed this. Now just trying to locate this pesky parasite drain.

Just fitted a Bosch 86 to my Cerb' - thanks to all the useful pointers in the thread above. I wanted the extra power and longer lasting time between charges the bigger unit gives and it won't be left long enough to go completely flat and damage it.

Took about 2 hours to fit and the alarm went off twice but not too much swearing involved

(Process I followed... doors/boot open, windows down, washer jets disconnected, vanity cover off, disconnected passenger side air box, old battery out, removed the old and corroded securing plate using a lot of WD40 and patience, new battery slotted in - just!, small bolt inserted to old base plate's hole to brace it, re-routed cables to enable vanity plate to fit back on, reconnected washer jets).

Only thing I've noticed since is the central locking little green light is flashing away and haven't managed to figure out how to reset it yet - any ideas?!

All working otherwise though so off for a burble around smile

(Edit: £87.99 delivered, bought this one...

Have had Yuasa YBX5075 for the past 9 months. £75. Dimensions LxWxH: 242 mm x 175mm x 175mm
because a. it fits well and b. it works despite capacity of 60ah. Maintained on trickle charger.

Forgot to update. Battery was fine in the end. The issue was a ridiculous parasite which wouldn’t allow my ctek to fully charge and it would drain battery overnight... it was traced to a dodgy heater control box. All sorted

And it's just starting to die... I think it must have been left for the 6 months whilst the engine was being rebuilt. It won't start the car when hot and the fans are running. too much draw
Time for a new one

7 years out of a battery on a Cerb is pretty darn impressive!

Replacing it with another red top as it's done so well and it's a good performing small light battery. It sits on an optimiser in the garage.
I said the starter didn't spin as fast when I got the car back, looks like it's got a few cells down. Best to find it out now while I've got time to replace.

I used to have hot starting problems 'til I wrapped the starter in a heat shield. No probs for years now.
