Why wouldn't short induction benefit a RR?!

Always thought short induction released the potential of the RR better?

Tbh thought the factory RR is A bit hit and miss with the cc balancing being a bit erratic.

I always remember Joolz being a bit scathing about the later RR and what they actually did or didn't have done to them.

For example RR's comming off the line with supposedly blue printed and balance lower ends but with dirty great mismatches on the exhaust manifolds.

I would have thought RR's would be the most 'loved' cars on the production line.

his made me laugh bit of an oxymoron TVR - " hit and miss"laugh

The Redrose was a good marketing ploy -"Magic Button" biggrin, as far as I can see not a huge benefit for the inflated price's being asked.

So is the TVR Power red rose upgrade different to the factory red rose work? Presumably for the price TVR Power charge they are doing more than fitting a 95/98 button. Although it is a very nice button.

So you think the red rose was simply a marketing ploy?

i understand what you mean but TVR does not have, and very likely will never have, the same status as Ferrari, Maserati and so on.
I agree that on the long term it does not mater if the car was Cat C/D.
Just look at old Grantura's... even without being a Cat C/D the chassis will have been changed.
But i think that that is mainly due to the fact that those cars are classics. A Cerbera a collectable but not a rare classic yet. Guess that in 20 years from now the prices will be like 3 or 4 times their current prices, but in the mean time they are not. And the car will, even if all works have been done perfect, still have a lower resale value.
You will have to wait long before that difference will be gone, so according to me it all depends on how long you will keep the Cerbera. Could be that in 10 years from now the care is that rare that people dont even care what color she is. Or that she has been a Cat C or D.

What would actually be very good is if they start making TVRs again, fast, loud and just simply smashing as before.

For resale value it is also very important, i think, that people dont forget the brand (of course we will never but many others.....)

so to conclude i think if you buy a Cat C (and repairs work were done prefect) and you will keep it for 10 years, no worry at all. Buy it!!

OK here we go..........2 cars at similar agreed price

I have agreed a deal on a 97 4.2 Cerb

Shes the colour i love
Wheels great spiders
Tuscan headlight upgrade
4.2 rebuilt engine only done 4000 since work undertaken at Automotive.63,000 on clock but obviously 4000 on build
New clutch etc etc,the list goes on with the items that have been replaced over the last few years
Spoke to TVR garage who looks after her and they say she is a good one.
Chassis is solid although there is signs of surface rust
ONLY THING IS SHE IS CAT C,fibreglass damage to front end only,no chassis damage, this is confirmed by the garage owner..

Or i have another 97 4.2 Cerb 51,000 on clock
Usual history chat on advert
Standard lights front end
RL7 wheels
Colour good etc
But would need to do some investigation etc on chassis and any work done,as not documented on advert.
BUT NOT CAT REGISTERED.

I know CAT C not worth as much, but i know all work on the first one, and was able to speak to people about the car.

The second one is a good buy but not a looker like the first.

HELP!!

well, for resale value on short/mid term it is not that much about the colour you like to be honest. I guess black/black would always be the best selling colours. But any way, lets skip that discussion. ehhh...if you have all paper work, service and so on... i would say... Car number 1 the Cat C would be my favourite.
But what i really dont like is rust... what ever kind of surface rust.It is just a pain to remove it. My cerbera had some light surface rust and yes you can/could remove it yourself but it is a hell of a job if you want to do it proper. But i guess that not only the Cat C got rust but the other very likely as well or?
So well... depends on the difference in price... but i guess the prices will be very close.

My vote is for the Cat C.

Someone on PH pointed out that the car is CAT registered, although the advert does not state that

Mark, is this car two?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-CERBERA-4-2-V8-1997-...

If so, well worth a look in my opinion. It's a P-plate so you may find that it is an early enough 1997 car to sport a silver chassis. The powdercoating was better on these cars, advert says there is "no rust". Would be inclined to check of course!

For what it's worth, single headlamps are my preference. I think that is a very pretty car indeed. cloud9
