SP12s or Spiders?
Discussion
Hi
what the general consensus? I sold my Spiders a year or so ago and replaced them with SP12s in black ( Silver Cerb). Now im selling it it seems that more people prefer the Spiders, despite it being well documented that they buckle easy and are much heavier. I have certainly found that since replacing the Billy suspension with Gaz Golds and runnign SP12s with a full corner weight that the car is much better than standard.
Ive been told that I should replace the SP12s with spiders for a quick sale? Maybe I should just adjust the price one last time? advice?
I think its at the right price and I dont want to have to allow for a new set of (Inferior) wheels.....

I think the ad isn't helping much either.
I'm no marketing guru but I would remove all the pics with spiders in and not even mention them (if you don't have any to sell why talk about them). Take some better pics of the car on a bright sunny day - they all look a little dreary and don't really show the car off at all.
The pics of the chassis are OK (but again why is it black is not waxoyled) but you probably only need one or two to get the idea. Also, in the first pic the undertray/stiffner and diff look tired and there seems to be some oily moisture on the drivers side - is the front diff seal leaking or it just grease thrown out the prop shaft?
If I was selling the car I would see about:
Good luck.

If I was selling the car I would see about:
- having the wing blown over (if it is an easy silver to match)
- replace the cracked headlamp lens
- Take off the undertray/stiffening plate and paint it up
- Clean up the oily residue on the drivers side rear
- Possibly remove the exhausts and have the diff sprayed/cleaned up
- Show a few more interior pics and less chassis pics
Good luck.
Feel free to shoot me down, but the chassis photos don't help IMHO. They don't really add anything to the listing; if anything they only prove that the chassis isn't really immaculate, and they don't 100 percent prove that it is even completely solid (although I'm sure it is). I'd be more inclined to take some better photos of the exterior, and hoover the carpets/remove the baby seat before retaking the interior shots.

OK, I take all those valid points on board, however whats the view on SP12s?
I like SP12's. I suppose if somebody is looking for an original example they will want spiders but I'm not sure that is a big deal.If you really want spiders I'm sure somebody on here will swap you for a set.
Personally I view Spiders as a liability and something I would need to shell out extra to get rid of if looking to buy a car having done any research at all.
I think the SP12s are absolutely fine. I'd suggest doing everything suggested above for the advert (photos on dull days can make anything look really unappealling) then worrying if it still doesn't get a sniff. I don't think lowering the price is the right thing to do. A cheap Cerbera just screams "Dog" to most people.

I dont think the wheels are the put off.. if i were buying I'd like to see more pics of the car from a viewpoint that shows more of the cars body work and it good light..
Also its quite a big block of text to read and sift through, I'd prefer to see a few bullet points of the important bits (last service, last replaced item [to gauge whether they were maintenance or failure related], upgrades/improvements/features on the later models etc)
Apart from the last pic which is blurry this one is layed out well imo with some good honest pics from a far back enough view point and good angles to get a feel for the car and wheels.

Anyone who is seriously looking for a Cerb will know the difference between SPs and Spids so no need to change the Ad for them.
The only peeps you will put off with Spids are tyre-kickers and 'original condition' types.
I wouldn't bother changing your baby, at this stage, for those types.
She looks good - Stunning condition interior.
Patience, Pike !

I have a set of 33 rear/ 42 front Spiders if you want to swap. They'll need reconditioning tho'.

I too have SP12's. Love them. Changed from Spiders because a) my pet hate is wheel wobbles and due to the state of the roads, I was constantly having the wheels balanced and b) I love the way the SP12's look, so a no brainer for me.
IMHO, if someone wants to buy your Cerbera, I can't see why a set of wheels would put them off when they can change them easily enough .

Yep Ive got a spare set of spiders in good condition standard colour. If you are interested would swap for the SP12 In my opinion the spider is the best looking wheel for the cerb. The only reason I want the SP12 for trackday use.
pm me if you are interested.
