Upgrading from a Chimp, best go for a speed 6 as an AJP maybe to fast for you.........getmecoat
Not the case at all, my red rose Tuscan sp6 was a faster car than my ajp cerbera!
Goodness me, let's hope Tanguero doesn't spot this post! wink
I don't recall saying anything about either engine being "faster". I just disagree with the rather idiotic assertion that the Speed 6 is a "better" engine.

Still neither are likely to be as fast as my new 4.7 so why would I care?

I just got back from dropping my Cerb with Andy at APM for a 4.7 engine rebuild!!! Believe me there is nothing wrong with my sense of humor laugh

The ajp will always command a premium, as will its engine rebuild.Parts are now becoming as rare as poop from a childs toy, which may be a factor in deciding as more & more ajps are now needing attention.Future part availability I'd go sp6.
Sound wise its personal preference...so I'd say stick with the Chim.
Kudos & bragging rights go to the ajp.
Performance goes to the best driver.

But dont forget...blue is the fastest in any engine!

I bet she's a beaut cloud9 unfortunately a 4.7 upgrade is a little beyond my means at the moment! Plenty of plans to improve the old girl, though.

This is my 4.5 lagging a bit behind a couple of Speed Sixes, due a smidge to me being late to get the power on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65YPLnzmJyQ&fe...

And from 1:50 on this is the same blue Tuscan following me and getting left a bit when late on the power.

Conclusion? In the real world they all perform the same. Buy whichever you like best. smile

Exactly this.

Just looked at the figures again from Str8six tuscan 4.3 conversion and Cerb 4.7 conversion with readings taken at Snetterton on the same day. Sunny cold and dry.

At all 10 mph speed increments eg 70-80 80-90 etc there is between 0.01s and 0.2 seconds difference in the fastest times (in the Cerbs favour)with a variability of upto 0.2s on different laps. Tuscan engine seems particularly quick at 90-110 where it is quicker than the Cerb.

Result in real world is no discernible difference.

4.7 is markedly quicker at the 130mph-135mph with a 0.25s difference between these speeds. This was put in to make Gruffalo feel better on his birthday. Happy birthday mate.

Both great. I am a 4.5 AJP owner but I must admit that sometimes I think the Speed Six pips it on sound.

P.S. apparently V8s corner better

The softer suspension & slower steering rack in the S6 doesn't help much in the corners! hehe

The early cerbera sp6 on 225 tyres on 16inch rims all round was an absolute dream to drift. In fact by far the best tvr for drifting ive been in. Trouble is people put 18s and fat rubber on them.. not nearly so much fun.

Your all wrong, a Cerbera is fantastic no matter what engine it has and do you what one is the fastest the one with the biggest nut behind the wheel not that I would know only has one for 14 years

Spoken to a few people/dealers/mechanics on this subject.

Only issue i see is the Speed 6, seems to be less desirable and so generally sells for less money than the AJP models

Which means you'll get more car for your money with the speed 6.

I initially only considered the V8 but now I'd be more than happy to have a 6.

If you want an SP6 by a T car.. As the the SP6 sounding nicer than the AJP.. Not a chance IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of the SP6, but you can't beat the AJP music. Love it, so distinctive.

Nothing wrong with a SP6 in Cerbera I tried 8 or 9 verbs before buying my SP6. I went for the SP6 because I got a newer car with better spec than any AJP I could find at the time. Absolutely love it. And it was about 4 grand cheaper than the AJP that I might have got and 4 years newer.

Came to the same conclusion this weekend looking at the 2 cerbs at Racing Green.
The speed 6 much newer and better equipped ,also prefer the headlights.
Having said that I haven't driven either yet.
