I've wanted a Cerbera since I first saw the TVR brochure in the 90s. At the time, there was only the 4.2 and 4.5s for sale. As much as I admire the straight 6 in the other cars, I always felt that the Cerbera was that much more special for being the only car with the AJP8 and to buy one without it seems to lessen that. I owned a R32 GT-R for 8 years, which arguably has one of the best straight 6 engines ever made, but after trying the AJP8, I don't want to ever go back. Smooth it isn't, but that's one of the reasons I love it. Having said this, I would still like to try a Speed6 Cerbera to see what the differences are.

Agree & that's why I went with the AJP but I did drive the speed6 first, the reviews do rate the speed6 higher than both the AJP cars from what I have read though.

As said in an earlier post you can get the speed6 in many other TVR`s but you can only get the AJP in the Cerbera that's enough for me.

When I started looking for a Cerbera only a V8 4.5 would do, but I missed out on a couple and tried another but blew a head gasket. I then went to see a 4.2 and spoke to the TVR mechanic at HHC and he said if he was buying one he would buy a 4.2 because it is a much less harsher engine and more "driveable".
I reckon in average road driving conditions the performance of each is much of a sameness and the differences would only become apparent on track driving days and even then down to the driver?
Just had mine decatted today and its noticably quicker and sounds awesome without splitting my eardrums!

Often hear that said about the 4.2 engine over the 4.5, but TBH Im the biggest S^ fan! love the drive and how it revs... lets not say it sounds flat as I have the full ACT Decat Sport pipe and OMG World War 2 Spitfire is in town! as for slow steering rack? most reviews and blogs often say the SS got the sharper steering rack.. mine sitting on Nitrons so Im on velvet anyway wink

As for the engine being down on power as standard yes, but on the road are you really going to see it? Regardless I'm deffo going for a larger rebuild when the current rebuild dies but I'm thinking the 4.3 is brilliant according to what the PH faithful say but how is the 4.5SS build as for the 4.7ajp Power also do a 5litre SS Supersport.

Theres no rule with TVR you could drive a SS you love but another one you hate and its the same for the ajp... More importantly just find the Cerb that tickles you regardless of the spec because you will know what ones you like but even more you'll know the ones you cant hate (they could have either engine)!
