Its currently in the classifieds I sold it back to Tony Gilbert in August 2012 with 30k miles on and its still only on 31k now, its up for similar money that I paid back in June 2006 it just shows how well these cars hold their money.

Makes me a little sad seeing it again...now where`s my cheque book! hehe

I like Halcyon Atlantis a lot too. Have you got the money? If so, I think you should arrange to go and see it again. It'll either seem like a great idea or a terrible one once you're standing beside it and see how it's faired in your absense.

I nearly went to look at this when it came up before. Love atlantis halcyon, same colour as my Griff, so a bit biased. It sold by the time I was ready. Too late this time, took the plunge on another Cerb. Prices are certainly going one way, if not holding steady.

Halcyon Atlantis is a wonderful colour, my first 4.5 Cerbera was Halcyon Atlantis and I loved it:

I think you need to read your comments on this thread ( http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...) and then go and take a test drive in your car.

Thanks for the kind words Guys, Tim it has brought the memories flooding back reading through that thread and let`s face it my Z4M only lasted 5 months and my M3 only 10 months in my ownership so clearly I haven't got over my TVR ownership as nothing else seems to come close.

I am just considering what the best option for me regards my next TVR is as I think if I am honest maybe the Cerbera is out of reach financially running costs wise as when I owned my Cerb and that £11k bill turned up after the rebuild and other bits and bobs I struggled finding that sort of money so I think a different model could be a more wise move maybe.

After visiting Burghley at the weekend its really wet my appetite again but I cant deny that the Cerbera seems to lull me in the most there just seems to be something very special about them.

There is something special about a Cerbera. 6 years vs months for the other cars should tell you that.

If you are lucky and manage to get a good one that drives as a Cerbera should nothing else comes close. I also a Griff and I have looked at other TVRs (Tuscan, T350, Sag) but it is the Cerbera that feels special. I'm not sure if it is the noise on overrun, the brutal acceleration, the long low sleek body or maybe just the fact I am high on fumes but the Cerbera is the one.

Being fairly new to Cebera ownership having had griffith for the last 7 years with very little spend outlay each year. Can I ask what you got for your money from an 11K rebuild? I couldn't run anywhere near that figure so I'm interested as towhat would result in such as bill (Chassis repalcement as well as complete engine rebuild?). I understand if you dont want to reveal details online
Thanks

Hi Adam, the oil relief spring snapped and caused pretty big damage to the engine I think I was a little unlucky as most say the AJP is solid, the engine was taken out and sent to the engine builder and it needed a new crank and a new cylinder head and a rebuild, while the engine was out it had a new clutch and slave cylinder and a few bits and bobs to get it through the MOT.

I was without the car for 9 months in total and the final bill was £11k which not only broke my heart but hammered my wallet and in turn made my missus hate TVR`s!!!

I was only saying to her though today had that not happened the car wouldn't have been a too bad investment as they haven't lost money in 8 years which I think is very impressive, even though I went through some pain with it I had the usual starter motor issues and boot lock problems but I still loved the thing to bits and I still haven't got over selling it nearly two years later.

TVR ownership is a love affair and I am still in love!!

So when you have enough encouragement from all these diehards on PH you can say to the other half that EVERYONE says I should buy it back. She'll be a pushover and anyway, stand up and be a man. Bloody nice colour that...

When I bought my Cerb, it was a short term project to keep me out of mischief through the winter. Well, winter has gone and although not finished, I decided to go to Burghley, this being my first proper drive in it. I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive, expecting doom and gloom and a lift back with the AA. Plus, with it not starting at 4 pm on the Saturday, I thought, right that's it, you're being sold.
Apart from the bonnet not being properly secure (entirely my fault after not fitting the new lock pins correctly) the drive was completely uneventful. All the electrics are working, aircon too and the radio reception is excellent. So yesterday I did a complete compression check in case there might be some (expensive) engine wear but found all to be in excellent condition.

The plan was to keep the M3 as she likes it a lot. However, after the trip down and up the A1, things are no longer clear cut. I really enjoyed driving the Cerb; entertaining, noisy, rock hard ride etc etc but it was fun and that's what it is all about. So, once the paintwork is sorted the decision as to which car to sell will be really difficult. Head says Cerb but heart says M3.

So, you must get one!

I'm rather hoping mine will blow up. So far though despite some mild rotation small end noise when cold it copes with me very well. Cna't quite bring myself to trash a fully working engine. its been spanking around on jools whirlwind and chip for the last few years.

It done a few runs at Brands Hatch and not let me down yet.

When it does blow up my 4.7 block is sitting ready in the garage.

I just keep remembering the B road blasts and the way the car makes you feel while doing it as its such an angry noise you get from the engine and they loved to be revved and the feeling just gets better and better...I just haven't had that thrill since its been gone.

I know some don't like the noise of the Cerb as they describe it as a little unusual and lacking character but I really liked its rawness and I think the sound was epic at the top of the rev range yet they still sound aggressive on tick over...the sound was the biggest disappointment for me with both my V8 M3 and Z4M just no comparison and neither was the driving experience either.

Plenty of us have fallen for cars, got them and moved them on quicker than expected cos another itch needs scratching. Cerbs are different.

The fact you're still hooked, despite the bad luck you've had, says to me you're ready for another.

If it breaks and you can't immediately afford to repair it, get a cheap runabout until you can.

And don't tell your wife til you've bought it. My old boss did that and it was the end of his marriage (he bought a Mondeo though laugh)

I sold my old Cerb in favour of an M3 convertible, instantly regretted it, the M3 lasted 6 weeks and Ive been running my new Cerb for a year now. Occasionally I have a sane moment and wonder what the hell im doing but love is blind, im never selling......

Seems we have a very similar view regards how awesome a Cerbera is and how not so great a M3 is! beer
