The comment was made after seeing news reports compareing the 2 country's reactions during the world cup, American people were stopped on the street and asked about 'soccer' and most weren't even aware the world cup was on , whereas in England the place ground to a halt, making it a lot easier for me to get to work

Fair enough - although news reports such as this are notoriously biased - if there sample of the US was taken from middle-aged people in the Mid-West then I completely understand...

BTW there was a report on WNBC (News radio here in NYC) last night reflecting on the poor state of British culinary ability and that 35% of men think Linguini is a type of wine. Based on the people I know back home in London, I'd say that was bollox, but it all depends who they sampled...

But to get back (slightly) on topic - $75K for Beck's Cerbie is a joke...

I've gotta say Paul that in my experience the penetration of soccer in the US is not very deep. I think over there its still viewed as somewhat of a kids sport on the whole because kids who grow up with an aptitutde for soccer and due to that fact are generally good athletes get lured away because of the salaries attached to Baseball and that dreadful GridIron game.

I think that's changing now. Claudia Reyna and Landon Donovan (amongst others) Are raising the profile and the MLS (American verson of the Permier League) is drawing larger and larger crowds. I agree that there's still a long way to go. But Soccer (sic) is now the second most played sport amongst boys aged 15-18 which is seen as the critical age group to begin the shift from the 'big 4' sports (Hockey, Baseball, Baketball and "Football").

Well back on topic, the sellers lowered the starting price, it's now down to £38,400 still too much, and still no bids

I see that these 'bonus items' are now included too:

On Jul-26-02 at 22:23:45 PDT, seller added the following information:
beckstvr.com will be up an running within a week, this site will be included in the sale along with the following domain names, davidbeckhamtvr.com and davidbeckhamtvr.co.uk

Forget the domain names, just knock off another $20k and I might make a bid

How silly!

What exactly would one put on a domain of those names?

FFS its only a car (albeit a lovely one) and he's only an undereducated pantie wearing footballer.
