As its still in rebuild, spoke with guys at Power who confirmed manifolds and decats have landed with Camcoat. Gauges are back from being recored (ether getting everywhere? the smell did nearly KO me a few weeks back).

Oh and lastly had to SORN the vehicle as tax lapsed on the 1st March so will need MOT doing also

The Beast is back. And it's black, and a bit red metal-flakey.....

That is stunning... How does the finish look up close, is it easy to tell it isn't paint?

It's NLA - so you're solution is a very good idea, wish I'd done that.

My decision to bolt the coil packs to the plate, and then bolt the plate to the engine makes things much more difficult when the coil packs fail. But it is still just possible to remove the plate with coil packs attached without disturbing the fuel rail on a 4.5

What have you done to your car today? Not Driven It - Yippee!

Thank Darwin I don't have to drive the damn thing to the shops anymore, because at last I have my Smart working and MOTd again, after it did something horrible in June last year.

I'm sure there's something missing here...

In all fairness, I'm glad it happened to the Smart, if the AJP8 had done this I would have been beside myself. And the irony is that the AJP8 still has horrible pinking issues, whereas the Smart was just going great, until it ate a piston.

Being completely honest, it looks nearly as good in the flesh as it does in the pics. There are a few areas that need sorting, mostly around the windscreen seal on the roof, but apart from a little bit of light orange peel on the doors, which I hope I can solve with a colour sand/cut, I would not know it was not paint.

I'm 99% confident that if I hadn't said what it was, nobody would think it wasn't paint

I'm going to the Bucks meetup on Sunday so keen to get honest feedback from others.

Very tempted to join you as I would really like to see your car, but very unlikely to be in the Cerb.

Got in this morning to drive up to APM for an MOT and some fiddly bits i haven't the patience for.....and some new fuel lines........and.........click....nothing!!!

Battery went west...been nursing it for a while on the ctek but my being in Spain last week obviously annoyed the car........so she ate her battery.......

Quick stop to the parts factor and replacement sourced....followed a spirited drive up to APM......

And now the wait........

Got mine back from TVR101 12k and MOT service. New engine bay fuel line, temp/oil pressure gauge, aircon regassed, Carl Baker immobiliser upgrade. Going like a dream and ready for Le Mans and many other uk race outings. I've got to get and tidy up some heat shielding next and get some stickers ordered for LM.

Today I got to use the Sprocket Retainer Tool my dad made for me, after years of relying on the generosity of another PHer who kept lending me his.

I keep meaning to make one as I need to check mine but haven't gotten round to it. Got any measurements from it Paul that I can use. Socket size etc.

I should be finished soon enough, so you can use this one as a pattern if you like, no need for me to send you measurements.
