Got ass dropping news. Beginnings of big failure in factory rebuild/recall (Mr Abbots old car)

As update was to begin it's been deemed "not cost effective" oil is being pissed from all over
You seem to be taking it in your stride, but still very sad to hear your news.

If you could give any more details about the precise failure, it's cause, and how it could have been prevented, then many of us would be very grateful for the info.

Hi UK

Not sure of the precise failure? but Does words "your engine is leaking really bad to the point I would't run her on the Dyno for obvious reasons , front cover , sump and rocker cover are pissing out , also the engine smokes really bad"

I know it does spit oil smoke out the exhaust when revving not sure what that indicates... I'll get more info from Dom with regard to how/what has failed and what the prevention may have been.

As you can tell Im not the most tech knowledgable wobble

Updates to come

Getting the car ready for MOT and realised I have been changing headlight bulbs wrong for the last 15 years. I had been opening the bonnet and pulling the rubber grommet, but first time on a TVR I realised I should have been putting it on a jack, removing the wheel, cutting out old mastic and removing screws from broken fibreglass to get to the bulb.

Because, of course!!! wink

Went for a spin.
Got it washed.
Put it away.
Have wide ratio Quaife box being built for it right now, but love the current close ratio Quaife hooligan T5 so much!
Two Cerbera's? ...hmm....

Thanks for the comfort comments Rik and outlaw. Not nice but in a way I'd have always been wanting the elite SS and it may be the shove needed as I'd have toyed with the idea for years.

Good work aide now herse a gearbox Q

Your CR what diff are you running? I was thinking when I need an update I would go quaife CR big fingers. But having driven Gruffallos 4.7 with the quaife WR set up (not sure diff set) I'm thinking I'd now go WR but not sure on diff yet any opinion/advice.

And while I'm having engine out do I convert to electric PAS? Gruffs had if very strange for a Cerb but that's cos I wasn't used to it and when getting back in mine the work rate def goes up. I'm now thinking would the ease of 3 point turns (every time I leave my garage and negotiate my way out of drive to me facing correct way to leave my village) etc make me actually take the car out more?

I have a std hydyatrak btr diff Alistair.

Not sure what the ratio is.

I managed to get a brand new one from Adrian at Central TVR a year or so ago.

I think gazzab has a different ratio diff...

Put the exhaust back on, looked at the lovely day out and cursed the stupid speedograph company who may or may not have something to do with richfield who have so far taken from mid December to complete the 2 week process of fixing my temperature gauge.

+1 took her out after my weekend walk down the beach with the dogs, still a bit slippy, didn't bother with many overtakes as I didn't want to end up in a hedge... Also noticed a fair bit of wheel balance issue on a motorway stretch at decent speed I now need to get sorted, hoping it's just a wheel weight and not a damper or something..

As she's away at Powers having rebuild I did some future planning/shopping. Managed to win a bid for a pair of Nankang NS2-R 225/40/18 (for the fronts) 7mm of tread apparently, so a bargain at £77 they will be teaming up with federal 595rsrs which are on the back.

The best bit is they are collection only 175 miles away so it will be perfect journey for my running in miles driving

Looks like a win all round?

Dropped her off at the container place where she will be loaded on her way to Perth, Western Australia.
Received my Australian Vehicle Import Approval ( a BIG yippee). So now all official and she can now legally land the other side. 👍
Looking forward to showing the Aussies some real British muscle! They won't know what has hit them as ( I stand to being corrected) there are only a handful in the whole of Australia. Showed a guy at work and he thought it was a Jag and another had never heard of them!
Fun times ahead..
