After servicing the handbrake on Monday and cleaning the discs + painting.
Waiting in the post today were new pad springs via eBay. So fitted em

Thanks to the previous TVR specialist that fitted mild steel split pins, I really enjoyed drilling them out!

Yesterday evening I removed the water rails, for access to the exhaust manifolds, in preparation for gearbox removal.

I have seen the gearbox being removed from a 4.2 with the manifolds in place, but I'm not a fan of putting unnecessary stress on the already delicate manifolds, and the 4.5 manifolds would probably make it even worse.

How about loosen the manifold bolts or may be a perfect time to fit ACT gasgets if you don't already have them £25 ish iirc

You can remove the manifolds without touching the water rails, but fiddly but saves playing with the coolant system.

Yes, I agree. But I usually find that any short-cut I attempt usually costs me more time in the end.

Not to mention blood loss and missing bark from the fingers!

I'm in the same situation re-fitting the water rails, awaiting delivery of the coated manifolds before fitting water rails.

Really pleased that I finally replaced my coolant hoses, sorted boot solenoid with a new one, sorted out the 'behind the number plate lights' and tested my new dashboard switches to replace the steering wheel buttons. Works really well but I don't want to modify the car at all so I'll be replacing the steering wheel ribbon.

Chasing an intermittent misfire recently. Have changed the coil packs, lambdas, checked plugs and done a compression test....still no joy!
Thinking maybe HT leads or injector.
No Burghley for me this year

After an easter-monday sojourn with the family which saw the temperature get a little too high for my liking, I diagnoised two issues: 1) coolant was low, (slapped wrist) 2) The fan 1 relay had failed meaning only fan 2 was cutting in. This was due to the fluctuation in the temp reading causing the fan to switch on and off rapidly. A new sensor is now on order...

First time out properly with the car following the respray and I managed to knick the front end on an unprotected scaffold pole corner in the car park banghead At least I wont have to worry about being overly precious with the car now!

Was great to be out driving it again smile

Started to remove the steering rack as it's slight drip has turned into a proper leak.
