£5,500 so far. I have done a heady 2000 miles this year though
Let's face it - the only thing left to pay for is someone to drive it for you biggrin

I took two hours to get home yesterday. That 30 minute journey home had a few detours along Wiltshire country roads biggrin

Mine started showing a wisp of steam on start-up and pressurising the header tank, so suspected head gasket. Engine is out, stripped, having new shells while I'm in there. Put the bottom end back today, just waiting on heads from machine shop..

It is massively frustrating but I guess it's part an parcel of ownership...

The money is annoying (4.7 rebuild was "sponsored" by Barclays) but not a patch on not being able to drive it.

It will be worth it right?

Hope so.

I heard mine is now running much, much better now and is almost done but for that side light issue, the MOT and caliper painting. He had spare Gaz Gold shocks to replace my knackereds which will get me back on the road for this summer.

Chassis looks pretty st with the car up in the air so probably going to just plaster it in waxoyl for now and dismantle the car in winter for the proper refurbishment. I'll get some Nitrons or Ohlins dampers then too, and I'll rebush the rear suspension. Sod it, everything else the last mechanic touched is cack so I'll rebush the fronts too so I know they're right. At least I have a press...

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for that rubber seal below the windscreen? Mine is lifting at the ends and looks crap. I need a windscreen too as it's delaminating slightly but enough for me to see it and therefore it's wrong/annoying.

The rubber is this one: http://www.clever-trevor.net/TVR/Parts_details/V01...

Windscreen is pricey: early models: http://www.clever-trevor.net/TVR/Parts_details/U08...

later models: http://www.clever-trevor.net/TVR/Parts_details/U23...

Just measure the width of the black band to decide which one.

Thanks! How's the rubber secured? Glued on with sikaflex like the rest of the car?

Thanks both, most heartfelt.

I have, in fact, given up waiting on the wonders of modern medical science, adjusted the clutch somewhat bizzarely, hacked a ski boot to death and B.B. and I have just been out for a superb sunny (if somewhat delicate) drive !

Yeeeee-efffing-Haaaaa !!!

If you can't get a cable tie round it, then it must be sikaflex...

Drove mine into work again this morning. After all now the miserable neighbour has complained to the boss and been told it's a classic sports car and road legal...

That will probably work. There are a lot of different Sikaflex products btw.
There is a groove in the plastic below the windscreen into which the seal lip is pushed so you don't need masses of sealant to hold it in place. Just make sure you clean out the groove properly which I didn't the first time and left the seal undulating across the car. rolleyes
Top tip: if sealant spreads out on to the windscreen when you press the seal down, don't be tempted to try and wipe it off until cured. It spreads everywhere. Let it cure then a sharp knife along the edge of the seal and pull the excess off. wink

That should work though I have always used 252 which is the high strength version. Twice the price though!

Nothing at this time, but in the next 12/18 months I hope to start a completley different long term project, Classic Mercedes Benz with an LS V8. The problem is finding a good donor car for the right money.
