Hi Paul,

What sort of state were they in when you got 'em off eBay ?
Ta !

Paul
Just within date, perhaps four/five years old, and with about 6mm tread, no perished rubber obviously. I tend to find the vendors import from Germany in bulk for resale here.

Bl...dy MOT tester failed the rears today, even though we measured the depth at a good 2-3 mm across the tyre before sending it in..... perhaps his depth kit has governmental calibrations...??

Anyway, as per this post know I needed a full set of boots, so currently pricing up alternatives.

Am tempted to go Goodyear F1 Asymetric 2 as I have got on with two sets of the Eagle F1s before.... but looks like they don't do a Y rating in the 225 profile..... they do in the 235 profile though....

Which Toyo Proxes are you using? I assume the T1-Sport??

Anyone tried the Michelin Pilot 3 ...??

That'll be the 4/4/4(?) rule in Germany..

I need new tires as well and I'd like to get toyo R1R's or michelin supersports
But that means going up a size to 225/40 R18.
Some say it make's no difference, others say it ruins the car...
Anyone got experience? (Gazzab you say they're horrible, how did they feel?)

I just find them a little gripless at the rear unless they are very warm. The fronts (40s) meant too much bounce and issues with rubbing and with setting front suspension height.

I've tried Michelin Pilot Sport 2s,3s and Super Sports on other cars. The Super Sports in particular are extremely good tyres

We have the supersports on some of the other cars and they are superb.
Endless grip and pretty good in the wet too.
That's why I would love to have them but they don't come in our sizes.
Means going up to 225/40 in the front and 255/40 at the rears.
But if its going to rub or ruin the handling, it would be a shame...

I am taking your advice. That's why I called out for you.
I value the knowledge of more experienced people then me..
I'm going to stick to the original tire sizes.

We have fitted " Bridgestone potenza s001"
They have all the 18" sizes required for Tvr
Good side wall from new .. Not too soft
Good grip in the wet . . Not bad sound level
We use Openo tyres or camskill
Good price

Toyos good
Goodyear asymmetric ok. Soft sidewall to start , take ages to firm up from new, seen some split . Grip well

Thanks for all of your comments guys.

In the end I went for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2's in the standard rear and 235/ 40 size, as I got on with the previous generation Eagles. As the profile is much taller than the worn tyres, in the couple of miles I've driven it back from the garage the rubbing has returned!! But I lived with it last time and it was never an issue (touch wood).

Looking on interweb could have had the full set for £600, I paid a little over this to have them fitted at the garage doing the brakes and MOT for convenience...

So - all in quite an expensive Cerbera week last week... New AP discs at the front, pads, new tyres, aircon regassed, MOT - £1200! Ah well, at least all now done and should be OK for another few years on the tyre / brake front...

Have you had your tyres delivered from openo yet? Just wondered what the date codes were on these tyres? The reason I ask is in the past when I've bought what appeared to be good value tyres online, I found that when they arrived the date of manufacture was 6 years previous so they weren't really new tyres. I've not heard of openo before, if they're selling new toyos at that price I'll have to get some.

They can have them back if they are old!

Have this style toyo been around for long...I thought they were introduced 3 yrs ago?
