Nearly two weeks into Cerb custodianship, the cars on 18" spiders currently, and need a refurb. I thought about offering them for exchange, but as someone pointed out, they might be useful if I ever have to pass her on to someone else.
I'd like to give the 17" RL7's a shot. Does anyone have any going spare?
I did come across a set on ebay recently, but after a quick question about sizes the listing got pulled.

I got a set of 4 with all the wheel nuts and centre caps, they look immaculate and with good, albeit old, Bridgestone tyres. Downside is the fronts took a heavy whack in some roadworks and are slightly out of true. I got rid of my Cerb at the end of last year and so they are just cluttering up the garage. I'd be open to offers if anyone is interested, the fronts might be salvageable but the rears are good.

Are both fronts out of true? If sidewards doesn't take them I may well be interested!

Fitted tyres may be different, but the front/rear rims are the same for RL7s. If you punch the numbers in to a tyre calculator they do not agree with the RL7 factory 255/40/17 fitment at all - weird.

Thanks for the offer, but what exactly does 'out of true' mean? If it means they're not entirely round, then that probably won't work too well.

From memory both the fronts vibrated over 70mph after the pothole damage, took them to the local tyre fitters to see if they could be rebalanced, they showed me the sideways run out on the rims, it was too excessive to balance out. They didn't appear to be 'D' shaped, just buckled slightly which they said may be fixable. It gave me the excuse to upgrade to 18inch spiders so I never bothered. The tyres are probably at least 10 years old so would need replacing.

I'm pretty certain the front/rear wheels are not the same size.

To be honest I'd be happy for any genuine Cerb owner to collect them from me (West Sussex) as I'd be glad of the garage wall space. Not looking for any cash, PM me if interested as my mail is now working again.

Hi all,

Bit of a bump, but three months and 6k miles in, and the rubbers wearing thin. So another shout out to find any dusty under used 17" RL7s..?

Hope everyone's getting some good running in, lovely weather for ducks and angry 4.5s

Bell Hill Garage have refurb'd sets (correct front and rears) on eBay if that is any use (£450 a set). No link to seller (other that I fancy a set when I get a car!)

I've got a set of 17" RL7s in need of tyres and a refurb that I would swap for a set of 18" spiders.

Thanks for the leads all, a fellow PHer has generously made available a set gathering dust, well slugs actually. Booked collection for a refurb on these, thinking of a Satin Black finish... What do you think?

However, I now seem to have run into another challenge, finding a matching set of tyres! This is proving more difficult than I recall. Does no-one have available a matching set of 235/40-17 and 255/40-17 ?

I keep finding posts where people have bought front and rear widths together quite happily for a few different tyres, and from different places. But none of them appear to have anything matching today.

If anyone has any up to the minute pointers, would be muchly appreciated.

Hey mate, check out these guys:

http://www.camskill.co.uk/

I just bought a full set from them and I think they were the same sizes you are looking for.

Oh - and Im considering painting my RL17's a darker colour (as they also need a refurb) so please post pics (and prices if you don't mind) on what you get done. Cheers

Is this the Cerb that someone (a woman) had painted the same colour as their Ski boot?

Haha, you first, I'm still umming and ahhing between staying anthracite, going to classic silver, or giving this satin black a whirl. You never know until it's on the car.
