Not quite gone yet, but I don't think there's much left in it, gear selection while stationary is getting dodgy and I have to be gentle on the move...

New clutch and slave ordered from Racing Green (how much ! wobble), decided to try their Helix replacement over the AP racing one.

My drive home tonight might be the last one before I put her on axle stand for surgery. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

I will check the master cylinder/fluid for bits of seals before I start, worst (best) case, I have a spare clutch ready to go in when needed...

When you have swapped them send the old one here http://www.clutch-specialists.co.uk/ they offer a great service and have just refaced my clutch in Kevlar which lasts longer but has a slightly more agressive bite.

Cost to me was £275 for a full refurb and refacing.

Good to know - thanks for the tip. Never been known to keep a spare clutch, but hey ho...

Good to know - thanks for the tip, so they take the AP clutch apart and refurbish it ?

Is it worth resurfacing a clutch when the fingers generally fatigue over the clutches life?

I had one re-faced by my father-in-law who worked at AP before he retired,it lasted 15k miles before it started slipping and the fingers were still ok,it had done 35k miles in total.

Same here over 40k! Mind I think there were only a couple of fingers left when it was swapped out.
No wonder there are so many crocked Cerbs about with all those traffic light GP's I much prefer a set of challenging bends at speed personally, mechanical sympathy every time.

Cerb's are meant to be driven...... hard.I have had my 4.5 for 9 years, it's done 45k miles on the original engine but is on its 3rd clutch. I agree with mechanical sympathy but as I say.... they are meant for driving!

How the hell do you shag 3 clutches in in 45k ? Sounds more like abuse than anything else ?

My first clutch lasted 45K miles since then they have lasted less and less time.

I am not certain the friction material is the same as it used to be.

Car was 7 years old with 16.5 k miles on it when I bought it.Slave cylinder went at 20k miles so I had the clutch plates relined which lasted until 35k when I replaced it with a new one.Car is on 45k now so that clutch has done 10k miles.......and yes I do like to abuse it now and again!:-D
