Child car seat - new Cerbera owner
Discussion
Hi, just bought a Cerbera last week, will post photos ASAP.
I have read through quite a few threads, does anyone have the dimensions of the recaro start?
I have 2 little girls, 1st is just turned 3, so I will have her in the passenger seat with her child seat! I presume that it's safe to do so, my other girl is 14 months old so need a seat for her in the back.
Am I right in saying the recaro start 2.0 is too big?
Do they still manufacture new recaro start 1.0 ?
Are there other seats I can purchase that are the size of the recaro start?
Anyone have one sitting around?

Hi,
Glad to see another owner who likes to scare his kiddy winks, i tried but they love the pops & bangs way too much !!!
If you are using a normal child seat in the front i would advise putting it on some old towels so that it doesnt sctrach the leather, also check that it fits between the bolsters on the base ok without damaging them.
Ideally you will need the Start 1, keep an eye on ebay and you should be able to get hold of one, im lucky i managed to get a factory child seat in matching leather.

If you find one then please do let me know as otherwise I'm sure I'll have them cursing me at Mothercare when I collect my new toy (deposit down).Amazon sell some approved booster cushions designed to fit the centre seat of a row of three (e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Small-Polystyrene-Booster-... which I suspect, being polystyrene, it might be possible to shave the edges slightly to make them fit if they don't already. Would prefer something more substantial if I can fit it in though.
Thanks James. Will post some pics of my cerbera as soon as poss.
Are the montecarlo's smaller than the recaro start ? The same? I want the smallest base as possible , but without compromising the safety of my little girls. Do you know the size of your monte's?

Hi Martin,
Where you at the meet last night? Sorry excuse my ignorance but what is the plate for? and is The plate used for a specific seat?
I finally bought a Cerbera, I did not bring it along last night as it has no Tax or MOT, but will give you a shout when I'm up in MArlow and you can give me your opinion....

I have the base plate that goes on the rear seat to make it flat if that helps.

I can measure them later, but I was never able to get the original Starts so have no measurements to compare.. The current ones look pretty huge in the shops though. They fit in the Cerb no problem though. Overall height is a bit meaningless but my inside leg is 33" if it gives you an idea of seat position. Basically, it's all the way forward with the pedals adjusted inwards to suit - but that's more because I don't like stretching for the steering wheel as I consider that a poor position for control. I don't have my nose pressed against the windscreen like an old woman either mind...Are the montecarlo's smaller than the recaro start ? The same? Cheers James. No probs. I will keep looking. Would be great to get the measurements of the seat span for the recaro start 1 so I can find a similar base.
If you get a sec to give me a measurement for the monte that would be great so I can compare

Yep I agree, collecting/dropping off the girls in the cerbera do not make me feel at ease. Thankfully the journey to pre school is a 2 mile round journey, and a collection once a week from nonna and nonno of 7 miles. So I will be driving very very cautiously.

Couple of safety points.... I never liked taking the kids out in mine cos the rear quarter is so vulnerable in accident plus the seat belt top anchor point can be a hard thing to hit with the head (as my youngest did a couple of times if I changed direction quickly).
