What Miles are people getting out of their clutch? 5k 10k 15k ?

My clutch has done roughly 5 to 6k. As per the invoices.

The clutch is heavy, the biting point is high but there is no slipping?

Car was driven, then gear put into 4th and foot went down but no slipping what so ever......

Confused.com....!?!? It is what it is? Or is it time for a new clutch already???

I replaced both the clutch pack and the slave (with the RP upgrade) at the same time, so I do not know which accounts for the transformation in clutch pedal feel. Clutch is now no heavier than a eurobox which has completely transformed the driving experience.

I had a genuine AP clutch and a lightweight flywheel fitted in June 2009. It's managed 29,400 miles in 5yrs and 3 months and it's booked in for a new clutch next Friday.

I gues I will need to see how it goes in the next few weeks. The car has only done roughly 1000 miles since 2009 so could this be a reason why it's heavy!!!

Saying that when I bought my Tuscan 2 years ago the clutch was really stiff and that had been a garage queen...

Might need to get back to the gym!

My guess is that the slave seals have become stiff with age and have caused the slave to partially seize. Changing the slave for an RP unit, or just changing the seals may cure the problem. Come to think of it, going to the gym might be an easier option.

Just drive it and see how it goes, my first clutch lasted 35k miles or so, since then around 6 or 7k and that is all.

I am not convinced the same friction material is being used now as in the original clutches.

i will be changing mine over the winter, mainly due to having no clutch the other day and the beginning of the year. Although is fine again. On checking the fluid it has black gunge in it so, seeing as i now have a garage to work in, will be doing, master, slave and changing the clutch, along with some other work that needs doing. My car is currently on 27k and as far as i can see in the service history its had a slave cylinder in its life with the previous owner. Although not sure of what mileage it was.

Not saying and touching wood, but it's original and lots of miles...

To all these people with low mileage failures, is there anything in common. Do you have your cats in for instance? Same make/brand of replacement items?

Original clutch at 42K but I'm sure going to need new next few months, getting notchy gear change and odd noises when I depress clutch at cold.

no issues with gear change on my car, just a bloody stiff(when pressed), springy clutch coming back up!!!

high biting point, but no slipping!!!

I will get a few hundred miles on her once I get her back from the MOT and then see how she is feeling. also will get her serviced (12k service & valve clearance) by Wilton Morgan specialists in Berkshire..

After all she has been sat in Monaco for 5 years with very little mileage(1,000 miles) before going to Milan.

I had a gearbox rebuild so replaced the slave with an RP unit and used the old clutch which looked perfectly serviceable. It was heavy to use and lasted another 2k miles before the fingers gave up the ghost. As UKkid found, my new clutch is as light as a feather, makes driving so much nicer.

I'm on 51.5k miles now, so keeping my fingers crossed for another 50k miles.
