Hi,

What is this? The picture is the drivers side of the engine (4.2 AJP) at the front, just in front of the exhaust manifold and under the coolant rail. I have coolant seeping from it, a constant drip. An engine head bolt?

How do I stop it leaking coolant. Is it a new seal/washer or a bigger engine job? The engine is coming out soon for a chassis refurb, so if a bigger job then so be it!

Thanks

Im no expert but that is one of the head bolts so would guess the head gasket has rotted away.

It might not be the hg.
The head bolts have washers that leak..

Often the first signs of the head gaskets rotting, not a huge issue, my 4.5 kept going fine for 4 years after I first spotted this before I decide to do something about it, and even then no over heating problems, I just decided it was time.

Because the engine uses wet liners, the coolant has free access to the base of the main head bolts so to speak.I would check torque the bolt first, as it may well have worked loose.
