Front splitter and rear diffuser
Discussion
I know I will get shot down in flames by the purists, but as I'm looking at painting options for my car whilst it has its headlight conversion i'm interested in the following front spoiler and rear diffuser to beef it up a little.
I have had a search around and cannot find much on either, so any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.....

I’d concentrate on reigning in water temperatures while idling in traffic first!

Are you referring to a previous post of mine? If so, it turned out that the big fan had died, which is now replaced http://www.tecomotive.com/en/tinycwa-en

erm.. no. sincerely hope it didn't cause any damage though.
I was referring to how inefficient the water pump is when you need it most! ie at idle
No, I was monitoring the temps and noticed that something wasn't right before it got into dangerous limits. The car has the cooling chip so I knew fans were playing up - no damage.I was referring to how inefficient the water pump is when you need it most! ie at idle
Im looking at the splitter option purely for cosmetic reasons as I'm planning a front end paint.

fair enough - hope you get the colour spot on Im looking at the splitter option purely for cosmetic reasons as I'm planning a front end paint.

I need a front end respray but am worried about how it will blend in with the rest of the car, so wonder if a full respray would be in the answer, in which case I would probably go for a colour change.lots to think about.
(still waiting for my Note2 to test you app..... frustrating)
You need to be careful adding aero to a car. It is very easy to change the grip levels front and rear and could make it very unstable at speed especially if you have standard springs. I speak form experience having fitted a large splitter to the front of my griff which made it very tail happy on turn in at speed and now have a rear undertray and top spoiler etc to get the blance right. Mine is basically a track car so grip is all important but just tacking bits on without fully understanding the effects may not be the best decision for a road car.
Btw the standard small front splitter on a cerb adds a lot of front grip but of course you can't see it.

Interesting. Had not considered that...... Btw the standard small front splitter on a cerb adds a lot of front grip but of course you can't see it.

I always assumed that a splitter cuts the airflow, and that a spoiler deflects airflow. Doesn't the standard front aero device deflect rather than split? Have I misunderstood, or have I installed it the wrong way round?jesfirth said:

And one more thing that might want to make owners reconsider butchering their bodywork... They look awful. Btw the standard small front splitter on a cerb adds a lot of front grip but of course you can't see it.

Paul, you are bang on.
On the Cerb it deflects at the front (slopes towards the rear) and there is a similar one at the back too. My thoughts of this was TVRS put it like that to make the air flow faster under than over. Therefore the air is less dense than what's above it so it acts like a vacuum with the car being driven down due to the more turbulent air above. I'm no physicist but that was my thoughts? Feel free to enlighten

BUT
I believe the effect is at its greatest when the aerobodywork ends which, in the case of a Cerb front deflector, is anout 3 cms after it starts
SO
The only true effect that deflector will have is in reducing the air pressure in the engine bay, thereby sucking hot air out and helping bay cooling (and that shrinking air volume, as it cools, will also provide a further, negative, underbody pressure) AND sucking the bonnet down.
(but I haven't done physics' studies for 40 years)
