Hi need your help, since having the car there has been been a strong smell of petrol by the bonnet area which then sits round the wheel arches. When the windows are closed there is no smell of petrol, when the car is driving and I have the fan on there is no smell. As soon as the car is stationary and the ignition is on its smells.

There is no smell in the cockpit unless windows are open and its stationary. There is no smell to the rear and the car has been expected over a bit and there are no visible drips!

The hoses have been changed by the engine bay, o rings and the rest of that area seems all in order.

Could it be the injectors? If so would my car be running not so great?! It's been running really well.

Car on canister? Fuel lines?

Any help would be appreciated?

Is there any gas system that can find if there is a leak? Rather than hours of checking every inch of the car?

This means something is leaking under fuel pump pressure. At the risk of sounding dramatic DO NOT RUN THE CAR until it is sorted, you are risking a fire and possibly your life.

There is no easy way of tracking a leak other than very carefully visually checking all fuel lines paying particular attention to the joints.

This may help

Uv torch may need to be better, you need darkness to test properly.

I traced a fuel smell on a Saab recently, I would swear it was neat petrol smell from the drivers side , I couldn't find any leak. Common problem is the elbow on the carbon canister located in the wheel arch, guess what the elbow was cracked!
This was not neat petrol in the end.
Just a thought even though on a cerb the carbon can is n/s rear arch. Maybe the breather system has a leak?

Also look at the injectors where they fit into the fuel rail.
