Hardly the 450 bhp that was bandied about when deciding to to go for a 4.7 rather than a 4.2 or 4.5 rebuild. furious
That engine is doing great until it dies at 6k. Masses of torque, show me another that has 300ftlb at 2k!

You should be really pleased, loads of usable power, it just get strangled above 6k. Swap the induction and/or exhaust and I'm sure you'll see loads more at the top.

Don't get me wrong, it runs very sweetly and pulls like a train on the road. Just the headline figure is lacking.

£800 got me this....
£14.5K got 391 but the same torque?

£750 with Joo got me380 but my torque is a lot lower.

and I know it's being strangled by the 2.5" exhaust system but it is quiet(ish). There's may be a litle more to come out if I swapped exhaust but I'm happy where it is and it's about at the top of a decent 4.2 setup.

be nice to see some of the modded cars compared. Any modded S6's going? Be really nice to see figures of torque as well as bhp from the modded cars to give us an idea of where to go as engines wear.

Well that does look like 300 at 2k, and it keeps going, very impressive.

On the other hand here is my lacklustre torque curve

Apologies for the crap quality......peak power is between 480-420 scale; 60hp/lbs between thick lines if that helps....

Unless I've misread that graph, then that's about 220ftlbs at 2k, rising to 400 at 5.5k, and Peter's 4.7 does have more torque under 4k.

It's about the same low end tbh, my graph starts at 2k, then it's 500 rpm between dark lines, it's about 310lbs @ 2k5 rpm and not dropping below 340lbs at 7k rpm. Over 360lbs between 3k5 and 6k5, peaking at 400lbs, adequate enough for me....

I agree with you, something happening with either or both the intake or exhaust to not let it continue breathing up the Rev range, which if free would put that where it should be. But then again, Andy and Joolz are not fools, so I really don't know why?

I'm with Jackwibble! Come on Harry W!

Someone get Julian to post the graph of my early 4.7.

All this talk of the 4.7 not being worth it is silly. Having had the privilege of racing both 4.5, 4.2 and 4.7 AJP V8's the 4.7 is a whole different ball game. The drivability and the punch it delivers out of corners is immense!

Just hope I can bring the cars to Julian's in Aptil!

Sadly not going to happen.
Cars not on the road this year yet, it's over 200 miles and near 4 hours each way, I'm currently looking after my wife so can't do overnight.

Trust that your wife will recover soon and that you can join us another time.
