Hi Ladies/Gents,

Just a quick hello to this forum. Having owned a 400 Chimaera for the last 8 years I have finally moved on to my beloved 4.2 Cerbera.

Long story short....

Purchased my first TVR after many years of lusting. Not having the financial means of most people I slowly but surely restored a 95 400 Chim. This was completed late last year and I had seriously good fun driving/restoring. Once this was completed I got very quickly bored and needed a new project. Chimaera went up for sale and I ended up with a 98 4.2. This car requires some loving touches but on the whole is a very nice example. It has been off the road on and off over the last 6 years. (I'm sure it will be known by some on here) It was exactly what I was looking for as I love restoring these cars to a very pedantic standard. The one thing I wasn't expecting was the difference in drivability performance. This just seems a much more stable car handling wise and the engine performance is just beautiful.

I look forward to your answering of my very daft questions and I will help where I can. cool

And 'Instrument Technician' sounds very intriguing! Can you elobrate a touch?

Looking forward to helping out answering any questions.

Hi and welcome smile

Instrument Tech = works with instrumentation e.g. on petrochemical, nuclear or pharmacutical process plant smile Pressure/temperature gauges, transmitters/switches or flow meters and the cabling back to control centres and computery cabinets and Human Machine Interfaces (console/computer screen) the operators use smile

Or does OP have some completely different wildcard job description? laugh

Lovely looking cerbera, I too went from a chim to cerbera, and that was my biggest observation was the stability and handling improvement. Enjoy fetteling away with it, that's half my fun with mine as well.

I traded my chimera 4.0 litre in for a speed six cerbera just last week at Tony Gilberts. Both cars in british racing green.

The very first person I have come across on these forums in exactly the same line of work as me. Any person in the Instrument line of work is quite rare to find and now they are developing a passion for Cerberas too wink

Well thanks for the very warm welcome thumbup Much appreciated indeed.

Yep, love being an Instrument Tech, quite a rare trade nowadays too.

Regarding the reg I am quite happy with it Mart!! not that you are biased in anyway wink

Anyway, back to normality of owning a TVR. She has just been treated to a full service, MOT, full geo, new tyres, front discs and pads, overhauled callipers, painted air boxes, bonnet lock rods, bonnet hinges, stereo, overhauled the wiper motor and wiper mechanism, new wiper arms and blades, new carpet mats, and a general good cleaning of interior and under bonnet. She was starting to look a little better. How does she repay my kindness? Spews my nice fresh oil all over the floor after a nice spirited run. Found a nice stone had decided to lunge up and destroy my oil cooler. Took her up to my friendly but mad specialist Ian at Torque RVT for an oil cooler replacement. Upon pulling up, the clutch decided it was jealous and also spewed its fluid all over the place too.

Do I care? No. Its all part of bringing a beautiful car back up to top class condition. biggrin

They can be very ungrateful cars!

Just to be clear - I am NOT an Instrument Tech!

I do sympathise completely with the way you're relationship with the car is panning out thus far. That'll teach you to try to maintain it...
