So, overall, parts availability is pretty good then. The chassis guys have pumped out a fair few now with no horror stories . Act make a replacement (a fair bit more expensive than original I grant you, but not unavailable) airbox. Haven't seen loads of wanted ads for blocks either. I've worked on tvr's since 2001 and can't remember the last time I had to fit an entire block to a customers car. Try running a Ferrari or Maserati from the same era. Parts availability is either worse or vastly more expensive....

I have 5 spare road blocks. Didn't realise there was any shortage of them?

Looks like they have just gone up in value!

You actually need to advertise it to sell it :-)
The car had been listed for about a year, but haven't advertised it on here for a month or so due to being the worst time of year to sell and figured I didn't want to waste my money on listing fees.

I have had a few people pm me since posting this so that's good news. I plan to give the original ad a once over, take some new photos and have it up by the end of the week though.

I do figure distance is a problem for a lot of people however, and its difficult to gauge what price to list it and but I'll keep it the same as what it was for now.

When I was looking, I was only interested in cars priced properly and with a good description and good pictures. This lead me to contacting the owners and taking the conversations further.

I looked on and off for 3 years and bought one last year. Good luck with the sale.

Same here - when I bought my Griff it was all about quality of adverts and pictures. I actually travelled from Derby to Dundee and back to see one but didn't buy it - I would not travel that distance if it wasn't a good advert but personally would go any where to look if I thought the car was reasonable. Good luck

In this current age, how well would you rate the desirability of a Cerbera. Not just on its own, but compared to other TVR models too.
And what approx price range for engine / age / condition?

The reason I'm asking this really is because I have been trying to sell mine for about year now and haven't had any luck.

I'm not going to say which Cerb I have, though I will say that after having a quick browse through a few sites this morning there are NO other 4.5 Cerbs for sale (apart from the race car) and none in the same colour as mine, which is also quite rare, but would thought to be a desirable colour.

With these qualities, it was also one of the cheapest for sale. I mean going from the classifieds on Pistonheads, there are only currently 4 for sale that are cheaper than what I had listed - and two of them aren't even mainland UK.

It is quite frustrating. I do need the car sold and don't want to give it away.

I cant really hold out on another year, and as much as I hate to say it, wewantanycar offered £11,000.
I don't think I would ever do that, I know the car is worth SO much more.

There's times where I can go on the classifieds and see cerberas and other tvr models been advertised for ages too so its obviously not just my car.

I understand that the right person needs to be after a TVR in the first place, but would never of thought such a car like the Cerb would be so difficult to sell, let alone list it at a fairly low price.
I had to travel 2000 miles to buy and bring mine home. If a buyer is serious then they will travel, no problem.

You might want to sweeten the pot by offering to meet a prospective buyer half way ?

Prospective buyers can be put off simply by he wording in the ad. So get someone (who is NOT a TVR enthusiast) to give it the once over before you publish.

I'd love a TVR but I agree with the above, it has quite a big risk factor, parts seem to be troublesome to get hold of and they are quite expensive. The car itself is also very expensive when you consider what else is out there. It seems to me that it takes an enthusiast who isn't afraid of a spanner to own one. One day I will have mine but that's just how I see it from the point of view of someone who hasn't owned one yet.
LOL

Spares are plentiful, and it really isn't expensive. Mine in total has cost me the same as three years depreciation on my wifes new car. Strange how people will throw that money away then claim something is expensive? What else will do 190mph for that little money.

When it comes to TVRs, it's a Cerbera that I want. I live in Scotland as well. I'd travel to look at a car, for a Cerb, I'd travel throughout the UK to look for the right one.

Not in a position to buy at this time, but could be in not too distant future.

I'll PM you.

When I wanted a TVR the Cerbera was always my first choice because I just personally prefer Coupes to Convertibles but I also appreciate a TVR is mostly about its noise so the Convertibles are obviously winners and a TVR is mostly used as a fun/weekend car so that suits roof off driving too.

There are few up here, I traveled to Essex from Ayrshire for a Tuscan a couple of years ago, flights are cheap enough now to do it.

So... people better hurry before going up even more.

These cars are collectors items, for value the only way is up (as you even see) ;-)

I think I have your Whirlwind kit?

I'd drop Barry a line and ask him to reprice the ad on his website. I think the car is well priced FWIW. I think Cerberas are just slow sellers. Mine was for sale for the best part of a year I seem to recall - going from clocking it in the classifieds, deciding I wanted it, and getting the cash together to buy it.

My 2001 ford galaxy cost more to MOT and service last year than my 2001 Cerby.

Nothing wrong with the Cerbera ownership compared to other enthusiasts vehicles.

I am actually convinced they are given away too cheap. Got mine for a bargain, too - so you will not see me complaining.

Back on the continent I had to provide a value expertise to my insurance company. They assessed a value twice the price I have paid, accounting for how rare they are actually.

In the end only 700ish habe been build with the 4.2 engine with approx half of them left on the road.

I don't think I will sell mine anytime soon.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind.
