Looks stunning!

But my distant recollection of helping to put the body back on a mates Cerb was that it was a tight fit around the upper chassis rails

Will it be a problem with the engine in?

We re-fitted the body with the engine in with one exhaust manifold fold on. There is a lot of debate it whether it can be done this way, I know for a fact it can be.

Prior to the body being refitted the engine bay required all heat shield replacing. As it turns out we made good job (probably better than TVR) of remaking the heat shield. We used the old shield as a template.

I also made a cover for the start motor which are prone to being cooked by the exhaust manifolds.

The finished shielding in the engine bay.

After fitting to engine bay, I used stainless steel washers and rivets to fixed the shield to the body. I trimmed some of the edges with 3M reflective tape.

I also reproduced the under bonnet heat shielding, this was fixed heat resistant glue, with all the reflective silver protection it was starting to look like something from NASA.

The was now ready for re-fitting to the chassis. For this we used a two-poster ramp to lower the body onto the chassis, engine in, one engine manifold on it is possible so long as you take slow and at a good angle.

The pictures of the rolling chassis give you a good view of the detail of the pipe work, protective coverings etc.

We started to piece the car back together. When I first bought the car it cam with a sports exhaust, it was so load. I managed to locate an original Cerb back box which would sound more like I wanted.

We went through a process of buffing the stainless box and tail pipes, and after several hours it came up like new, like a mirror.

I made a new set of brackets to hold a new dual layer heat shield in place, protecting the underside of the car and fuel tank. I made sure that there was a 10mm air gap between the shield and body underside.

The exhaust pipework I painted in black with heat resistant paint.

Good work on the rear box, but I got rid of mine because it was heavy compared to the ACT sports rear and also took up a lot of room/ limited road clearance.

Saps a bit of power too..

I went with some central silencers instead, with sport rear cans.

Thanks for the comments!

Next up was fitting the new radiator. I decided to go with an aluminium one for Aaron Radiators after reading lots of recommendations. I have got to say its a monster of a radiator and the quality was very good. The welds were nice.

We painted the fan cowling and re-attached the primary and secondary fan using stainless fixings and washers. The radiator was fixed into place using new bobbins and grommets.

Should be a 50k car at least! Wonder if Cerberas will ever be valued as much as they should (imo).

Beautiful car.

Gold outside and a cherry bakewell interior is going to put a lot of buyers off.

Thanks for the comments, I will never recoup what I have put into it, unless it sells for 50k+. But realistically who makes money on Cerbera's? My value came from enjoying the time spent researching and rebuilding a car that deserved a lot better, the up's and down's and people saying 'what is that?'. The 'Golden Bullet' I would responded!

Thats cheap, or possibly very realistic in todays market? Should be £35k minimum, so it should be a very attractive car for someone.

Someone tried to get $75,000 (£62,280) for a Cerbera here in the States on eBay, but came up way short. The bidding stopped at $45,100 (£37,450), not sure if it sold.

Beautiful work Jon. If the economy was in a different place, I'd be a buyer. Alas, I'll merely lust after it.

I know, I am not sure about the market and maybe it could get worse.

Should I pull the advert and keep until next year, from July 2023 it qualifies for import into the states, that could make a difference.

I want to sell it, but not at all costs.

I think your car could be a 50k car if sold at the right time.
