Cerbera 4.5 coil pack
Discussion
They say High Spec. But can anybody say why?
I mean, I have measured the resistances of primary and secondary coils on as many packs as I have come across, and they are all the same. With this in mind, I Do have some hesitation as to the claims on the differences. Perhaps when you get them, you can measured the primary and secondary coils and compare to the budget set I know I have. Perhaps all the ones I have seen are just cheap and nasty.
There are two trains of thought here. We would either see a lower resistance and thus would be a lower voltage but higher amperage. Or, the other way around.
From memory the secondary coil is 5.7k, but don't quote me. I'm curious and will have to check tomorrow

Quick update - one of them failed after about four and a half years. Now replaced with a pair costing £31 inc p&p.
Also, it is possible to removed the coil packs without disturbing the fuel rail on a 4.5.
When they fail, what is the result ?Also, it is possible to removed the coil packs without disturbing the fuel rail on a 4.5.
And what is the test for a failed one if the car still runs even if not very well ?
Always wondered as I was given a box of them in the spares bundle when I bought the racer....why would a race team keep them if they were duff ?

In my case there was no spark in one cylinder. And what is the test for a failed one if the car still runs even if not very well ?

Ideally connect a spark tester, and swap HT leads to confirm.
Perhaps old ones were kept just like I've kept an old one that I've swapped out as a precaution even though still working.
Hi,
maybe this would be worth a try?

I'm not sure if this is fully compatible though... Any thoughts?
