I have a couple of genuine reasons for selling - firstly I've been running my own business for a little over a year and putting most of what I earn back into the business in order to grow it, so finances are constrained at the moment.

Secondly, I work from home mostly and have a shared office in town which is a tiny drive away and mostly through town traffic.

Due to both the above reasons, I'm thinking of selling up. I just don't use the/a car much lately and would have to take it off the road for several months should any big unexpected bills crop up.

My problem is that whilst the good examples seem to be sought after, the slightly-rough-around-the-edges examples don't seem to generate much interest. My car has some nice upgrades, but the paint isn't the best and the chassis will definitely need some care in the next year or two.

Does anyone still buy a Cerb looking for an on-going project?!

I certainly did - but be honest and thorough in the advert, or a buyer like me will smell a rat wink

I bought a tatty 70k mile Cerb a year ago and love it! I got it for a good price as it needed loads doing to it, but that was what I wanted to do.

I wanted a car that had been driven and not a garage queen that I can't sort out as I go along.

Describe it well and price it accordingly and you will find a buyer.

Good luck

You probably took care of the vulnerable upper chassis rails near the exhaust manifolds when you had the engine out, so that leaves outriggers to deal with. I am really pleased with job done on mine by C&S Coachworks, completed quickly and to a reasonable budget.

Your paintwork doesn't look too bad from memory, and it's a great colour. In reality there's just some cosmetic issues with the interior that detract. So if you really want to sell, invest in some detailing and sort out the cabin - it will pay handsome dividends.

Alternatively sell it as a shed, there are always people like me that like a bargain!

Thanks for the input guys.

Stunned Monkey and OutlawFlat4 - do you mind me asking what sort of condition your cars were when you bought and what sort of price you paid? PM if you'd like.

Paul - The chassis isn't great, no holes anywhere (other than the tops of the outriggers which I can't check) but there is a lot of surface rust, especially around the rear which is less usual for a Cerb! I managed to use some Kurust on the whole of the rear section last year, but it'll definitely need a body off restore at some stage. You're quite correct though, there are quite a few small jobs that would improve the car greatly.

Jimmy - I'll be in touch soon!

The pictures are no longer active but the description should give you a flavour for the level of detail. It really was the content of the listing that had me sold.

I offered 12k, stuck to my guns and the seller decided to accept after first refusing. Turns out he paid 8.5k for it but then sank a fair bit into it. I maybe paid a bit over the odds but really liked the look of it.

I got another couple of hundred off the asking when I collected due to very rusty headlight reflectors.

He was maybe a little creative about the service history, there being a giant gap in it, however he also didn't make a big play of the fact that the engine rebuild had actually been done by TVR, HHC had just removed and replaced it. I got a heap of detail including emails with TVR explaining the work they did.

The only big money I've spent was my choice to get a new, quieter exhaust made. I have spent some time getting the engine running nicer - but to me that's fun and why I bought it.

Although not in the market for one just now, I will be looking for a project Cerb in the near future. I keep an eye on the classifieds as well as Ebay and they seem to go pretty quickly.

Thanks to those who PM'd me and posted. I think I'll spend the next few weeks tidying the car up a bit and then look to sell it.
