Jabbah, I'm hoping to head down to Virginia Water tomorrow even if the weather is filthy! Would love a close look at Cerbera if you're still going to be there. I'm looking at getting something a bit crazy for my forthcoming 40th and recently added the Cerbera to the options list!

Cheers.
I've got a gum abscess and on antibiotics and painkillers so doubt I'll be going tomorrow. Have to be another time.

Wow, Some amazing pictures there. Well I went to the Virginia Water meet with my ol' dad and it was great!

Some really nice guys there, well all of them infact. We ended up staying till 11:30 chatting to a nice guy called Graham who owns a beautiful Tuscan.
There were two Cerberas and loads of Chimeras A Lambo, infinity, wedges, Caterham R500 to name a few, plenty of eye candy. smile

I spoke to a guy with a Maroon Cerebra who was looking to sell it. But he didn't really know enough about the car at the moment but was friendly and chatty, he started her up for me too smile

It was the first time I have seen most of the models in the flesh and I have to say they all look amazing!! Although if I am honest I wasn't awe struck when I saw the cerebra as I thought I would be. I thought it would light my eyes up when I saw it, but for some reason it didn't frown But I was awe struck when I saw the Tuscan..... Now I am torn between the two, I love the cerbera and the engine is the icing on the cake, But my heart fell for the tuscan, the looks were amazing and really stood out for me.

What do I do! lol Nice problem to have i guess....;)

Who else was there from this forum?

Cerbera looks best when it's moving.
But if your heart says Tuscan then go for it. Not a huge fan of the S6 engine myself but I'm sure a Tuscan with the right suspension mods and a tvr power engine rebuild is sublime.

I bought mine for £5400 seven years ago (it's my second one) and I know absolutely every part of it. I bought it due to the chassis being in great order. The car has done 25000 miles but the service history from the previous owner didn't come with it. It's true mileage as it was such a bargain anyway... they wouldn't have had to clock it!!
It had a pond in the front foot-wells, was a non runner and the paintwork was poor. Since then it's cost no more than £2000. This year (at last) it'll get its respray. It's worth at least double my initial outlay and prices are now starting to take off!!
Don't worry too much about the spider alloys... they make mine undrivable at high speed, making the car crash and slam over small bumps.

There is no doubt in my mind that you have to follow your heart with these sorts of cars. It's going to cost you a lot of money and if you don't love the car you'll resent it.

I initially thought I wanted a Griffith or Chimaera 500, and saw the Cerbera as a poor relation by comparison - until I started doing my homework of course. I never understood why the Cerbera didn't get the 5.0litre engine, thought it was just a hard-top Chimaera etc etc. The information is easy to find if you're actively looking for it, but it's easy to see why bullst is so prolific with these cars because it's just so tempting to learn one little titbit and extrapolate the rest yourself.

Personally I love the Cerberas somewhat confused personality. I love straight 6 engines and totally get why some people say the Speed Six is the best Cerbera. What I love about the Cerbera is that it wavers in and out of making sense. The looks are restrained yet potent. The interior is both wild yet comfortable. It is claustrophobic with the windows up but not down. The car looks humble when it's stationary and aggressive when it's moving. To top it all off, the V8 one especially is a classic looking GT car with one of the rudest, most obnoxious and generally uncouth engines ever built. It's very difficult to point at any other car I can think of and say "A Cerbera is similar to that" to describe it to someone who wants to know what it's like.

A pal nearby has a Tuscan S. It's completely different to a Cerbera. It's awesome in its own way, and very quick. I don't think anyone could seriously challenge a preference one way or the other - so I'd suggest you arm yourself with as much information as your brain can hold about both and let your heart choose out of the two smile

Mine with a week's worth of road dirt and brake dust.

OP, I went from a Tuscan to a Cerbera about 10 months ago.

I regretted it initially and missed the S6 engine, noise (roof off) and looks of the Tuscan........but I have started to really fall for and understand the Cerbera.

It's magnificent. Handsome. The 4.2 V8 engine is a bloody brute and the torque is a nice bonus after the S6. The cockpit is wonderfully tight yet special and the pillar box view adds to the drama.

I will keep the Cerb for many many years.

And hopefully add another Tuscan....

However, both cars will cost you money. Proper amounts. All worth it though.

P.S. I would recommend both. Just choose what floats your boat the most.

Thank you guys, some excellent honest opinions there, exactly what I was after, real testimonies.

Love that colour Jamieduff and looks nicely lowered too, how much is she lowered by?

See these reasons are exactaly why I am torn, I fell in love with the cerbera about 15 years ago (I was still a teenager) but mainly due to the AJP V8, I love the sound, power and uniqueness of the british made flat plane design. Hence why I was so set on one, but now I have seen the tuscan......ARRRGHHHH!

So, Would it be best to drive both? Will that help with the decision?

PS: I love my straight six (nissan skyline) engine, but my friend has a C5 corvette which I have borrowed a couple of times and even though its conventinal V8, the torque is amazing in a different way.

I went from a Cerbera to a Tuscan, and then back. I felt that the Tuscan was a better car in most respects. It was far better made than either of my Cerberas, easier to potter about town in, generally speaking more reliable (although I use that term loosely), it felt quicker and more modern, and yet! There is something about the Cerbera which I can't put my finger on, but it is something I have never experienced from another car.

This is why after I had spent thousands getting the Tuscan how I wanted it, I ended up back here in another Cerbera, vowing that this time I wouldn't be foolish enough to sell. I would have another Tuscan, in fact at some stage in my lifetime I am sure I will have, but it will be in addition to the Cerbera because you can't replace one.

The Cerbera is the Vindaloo of TVRs. A Chimaera the Korma, the Speed 12 the Phall, the Sagaris the Tikka Massalla, the Tuscan a Byriani, a T350 Lamb Passanda and Tamora a Dansak
Hope that helps.

You're the 2nd guy who's commented on the ride height recently. If it is lower it wasn't me who did it. I don't care much for the Gaz Gold dampers it's on and have a set of Ohlins to refurbish and fit. When I get round to that it'll get a geometry set up that suits road driving, and the ride height will be whatever it ends up being!

Bought this without even driving it. Just wanted one. It's had thousands spent on it, to improve and to maintain and still some days something goes wrong. A good garage, a little know how and passion is what is needed owning a Cerb. I could probably bought a Aston or a 911 with what it owes me but what a rollercoaster. And when it's good its great. Sorry amazing. My mrs thinks I have another woman, no way, it's just the time I spend drooling over cerbs.

I bought this 3 years ago for 8.5k,

Its cost me a clutch, new shocks and hours of my life.

Would I replace it? I can't think of much that would come close (maybe a Viper or a Marcos Mantis). I'm not someone who sells cars so I guess I'm stuck with it and the silly smile every time I drive it.

It is still in bits and I will be in the garage this weekend if you want to pop by.

From the wiki:

Ride height (Meausured from Outrigger corners to ground)

Front 125mm
Rear 130mm

Easy to check, does look a little lower than usual but not slammed or anything.
